Why do you collect Pops?
What drives you to collect pops? I love collecting them because they represent a lot of the characters that I've always loved. I grew up watching things like Star Wars, ninja turtles, batman, spider-man and x-men. The fact that I can have a usually fairly inexpensive collectible representing one of these characters that I have a passion for is great. I've looked into collecting more expensive statues and things like that but the price tag is usually what turns me off when I start to think about it. It's the thrill of the hunt for that one elusive character that you have been searching for that you find buried in the very back of a bunch of ones you really don't care about. It's a great hobby that I share with my wife and we have so much fun shopping for them together.

Re: Why do you collect Pops?
I have been a collector as far as I can remember. My dad started me with coins and stamps, then moved on to cards and comics. I started with figures after that. I loved it so much that I opened a video game and collectible store near my home in 2007. Then the economy dropped and the plant I worked at closed. Now I was stuck with my bills and the store, which really wasn't making profit just keeping itself going. I sold 99% of my collection including earlier funko vinyls just to pay bills, and eventually closed the store.
After I started to get back on my feet, I was looking to restart my collection but prices of everything went up. I actually came across POPS in B&N one day.... $8.99!!! They were simple, cute, and cheap. I figured I would give them a try. My first purchase was Batman, Joker, Penguin, and Riddler. After that I found Two-Face. There was a small break as I really didn't like the bobbleheads. Then I started getting Disney, then movie POPs, then video games, tv shows, exclusives....then frantically searching for the next new line.
Fast forward to today adding mystery minis, dorbz, vinyl, tee shirts, legacy, fabrications, and whatever else gets thrown my way. All the while actually buying from a company that listens and seems to really care about their customers.
That is why I collect POPs

Re: Why do you collect Pops?
I've just recently got into collecting pops because they are an awesome and affordable. I grew up watching a lot of the line of pops that come out. Most of them are readily available and others are out of reach so it keeps me going trying to complete a set. It's a great thing to have a complete set from some childhood movies/cartoons/shows I've watched. Just brings back the memory's that I've had when I was younger. Guess you can say brings out the inner child in myself. But also bring the collector factor so it's more of my age (late 20s) item to strive to complete full sets. You can go all out on them or purchase select few (don't know anyone who can) and the same time as cheap or as much as you want. Basically an awesome collection of memory's

I like the style of Pops overall, and they have A LOT of licenses that mean something to me like X-Men, Doctor Who, Supernatural, horror etc and some that are from my childhood like GiJoe, He-Man, Lion-O etc.....
If they continue to do old tv shows and movies I don't know if I'll ever be able to stop buying them...

No, honestly, they're just really cute! And they're stylized almost how I do my polymer clay charms faces, which I think is what initially drew me to them. That and I've never seriously wanted to collect anything until I saw them, go figure!

I've stayed away from making a wishlist because I'm afraid that if I did it would be even harder for me to try and stop buying more and more. There are just too many that I want!

Oh yeah. With the ones that are out already I still need a lot more, like Marvel. Considering Funko will continue to make more Marvel and other licenses I know will draw me in, I know this addiction will not stop any time soon. Ha.

They are just too darn cute to pass up. And when the Doctor Who ones came out, that sent me over the edge and I had to have them all.

The price point is the main thing that drew me to Pops and all things Funko. It just helps that they all look awesome too.

Re: Why do you collect Pops?
I have always collected things and Funko offers such a wide range of characters to collect; many that I otherwise wouldn't be able to readily find in merchandise form. I enjoy the designs of the figures and the price point helps a lot. They are very good quality for what you pay. Lemons do get out obviously, but that is true of all things.

Re: Why do you collect Pops?
I loved the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and wanted them represented in my Man-Cave..so decided to get the "cool GOTG bobblehead things" at Hot Topic the next day after seeing the movie. Then I figured I should get the Avengers, then the Justice League, then Alien & Predator because they were cool, then Jason Voorhee's & Freddy Krueger because that's badass, the Big Bang Theory ones, some more horror POPs, Spider-Man, The Thing, Doctor Doom, Robocop, Judge Dredd, Edward Scissorhands, Ace Ventura..then day 2 came, 30 POPs later...

Re: Why do you collect Pops?
I definitely have the collector gene and I've always collected random stuff (stamps, mini figures, etc). But what I specifically enjoy about Pops is the diversity of licenses, especially ones that normally don't have this type of merch (Fifth Element comes to mind). Also, the fact that they all have a cohesive look means you can collect Bob's Burgers and Game of Thrones and they still look good standing next to each other.
