I'm not sure how it is all around North America, but when shopping around for a bit after work today, I found Gudetama the Lazy Egg here at the EB Games at Chinook Centre in Calgary. It was really bizarre to see him so soon... BUT really awesome! I'm guessing this means the Hot Topic Pre-release of Gudetama with Bacon isn't far in the future

Gudetama is a Japanese character created by Sanrio. "Gude" is a loosely translated to lazy or unmotivated and "Tama" is short for Tamago, which means egg.

I saw an enormous display for this guy at HT this morning. I just chalked it up to being another bizarre teeny-bopper, stereotypical Hot Topic-crowd fad until I noticed that Funko had randomly jumped on board the sleepy yolk bandwagon! My curiosity was piqued, because surely Funko wouldn't just give the coveted Pop treatment to any old stupid thing, right? So I consulted YouTube: "What is Gudetama?"

I got a few 30 second videos of him.

Am I still living on the same plane of existence as everyone else? Because I don't get it, my brain hates it, I'm not at all the target audience for it, but a tiny voice in the back of my head loves Gudetama.

Somebody help me. Send an exorcist.

Just got an email from Hot Topic absolutely chock full of Gudetama stuff, but no sign of the Pops. I wonder if they'll be exclusive when they hit the States. I don't really mind either way, I just want the lil guy!

Picked these guys up right before Black Friday. Love how the egg white is transparent. I hope there's more variants coming down the line. Would love to get one with him sleeping under the egg white or bacon.
