Rounded vs Square box window

Postby emcee » Sun Jul 26, 2015 6:53 pm

What makes a POP! box window perfect? I've seen some with the square corner and some with rounded window. To me, the square corner looks better, but I've received many boxes with rounded ones.

I was wondering this myself too. Older Pops I own have the square window, recent ones rounded.

Um, what? Are we talking about the bend in the window being crisp or not?

I think I know what you're talking about. The Rounded Windows may be the lack of pressing down on the folds to make the corners sharp. I don' think they are intentional.

Right. Some of them make a clean 90 degree angle with a sharp corner, and some have a rounded corner

It probably has to do with the strength of the hands of the poor person who has to assemble them. Or how fast they're going. Or maybe the rounded ones bump the price up. Rumor has it if you crisp up a non-crisp edge the pop will grant you wishes....
Okay, snarkiness aside, if you want it crisp, fold it. If you don't, leave it. It's all just luck of the draw.

I was just wondering which method was the socially acceptable "mint" box.

I was wondering this myself. Doesn't matter either way just curious to know if it was deliberate or not.

It seems like the majority of round window boxes come from Vietnam whereas the majority of square window boxes come from China... Maybe it's just the manufacturing process where they don't crease the box window.

My pops are allowed to roam free... so box rounds or corners or creases don't matter to me. But all in all is just whether they had time to fold them all the way when they were making the boxes to insert the pop (not done by machines).... I'm so glad boxes aren't an issue for me :)

Haha me too, mine are all OOB except Hulkbuster. I just got my SDCC shipment today and half of them had rounded windows and half were squared and that gave me enough inspiration to make an entire thread about it :)

Dammit... everytime I see a rounded corner box next to a square corner box at a store now, I ALWAYS check the "Made in _______" and it has been true 100% of the time so far hahaha

I like mine creased and crisp. Looks more uniform when boxes are displayed next to one another in a 'wall of pops' fashion ;)

Imo the creased ones look way better. The boxes without the crease also tend to be "puffy" so I just flatten them out to make them "neater." :happy11:

I think the crisp corners look a lot better. The round corners, IMO, feel sloppy and they bug me, but not enough to do anything about it. And if I tried to fold them myself I would probably screw it up somehow.
