Protos, who gets them and how?

So Im guessing employees, friends and family's of employees, that work at Funko get the protos, but is there any way the common folk can get their hands on them without pulling out the big bucks on ebay?

Going by recent prices I assume you also have to be willing not to eat for two months and know how to photosynthesize to make your own food

I would also add that protos are given away at Fundays, some retailers have contests, Funko has contests, some retailers have them for sale (Gemini - regularly, Fugitive - once), then people who have them try to sell them on the FB pages and on Ebay.

If you're thinking of getting one, do some research first. Just because Batman sells for 500-600 bucks doesn't mean that ALL DC characters are worth that. Some protos can be had for under 100. Pricing for most protos SHOULD be around 150 bucks, but people are overspending on them right now and you're seeing prices hovering around 200-300. My favorite example of over valuation....Sauron on Ebay. That guy tried to get 1500 for it right after SDCC. He's done to 500 now. He needs to go to 200. Unless there's something you really want right now, wait and see how things play out.

Ye I had a small drool at the Sauron proto, and then I saw a Deathwing Proto and died. But I will never pay that much for a proto, as much as I love them. Looks like its time to move to the US and get in on these fundays

I didn't think I would collect them, but I do. It's a trade off. Buy tons of stuff I like, or buy one special version of something I love.
