The POP! Shop

Has anyone seen this yet? Looks like a POP! vending machine. Came across it on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/funkopopshop

Wow! I would definitely buy pops from a vending machine! Very interesting idea! I can already see it standing at the mall! Haha

It reminds me of the Pokemon vending machines. Unfortunately I think the only one is in Seattle but it does very well! There are cards, figures, and plush. The styles are consisitanly updated, and there isn't a huge price mark up.

A funko kiosk would be great! Just as long as its in select locations to keep it more of an attration, I think they would do well.

You can't check the quality of the pop in the machine or return it if it is damaged... No way is it worth it to me!

Plus, how would the box be "delivered" to the customer?
Traditional vendor style as in push a button and the box just drops down, thus probably causing damage?

I'd say it's geared toward the more casual POP fans. There's one in the Funko HQ (sadly empty when I went) and my manager and I are trying to talk the boss into buying one for our store but we haven't been able to get a straight answer on how to obtain one/the cost of it.

Straight from the Facebook page my problems thinking about it is whether they would change the pop inside it and if so how long till the change and then when would they change it. Also will there be chase in there cause dont get me wrong paying for a pop would be good, but could you imagine if you had $20 and you bought a pop and it comes down to you and then boom behind it was a chase or metallic version and you ain't got no money left and someone is waiting behind you and see it or you go to get money and comeback it gone how heartbroken and sad would you be ????. The exclusive ones whats to stop 1 person buying them all then standing next to it selling them for $5 or more just cause he wants to cause whats going to stop someone, what about line jumping and fights if there 1 pop left and 2 people want it seriously this after thought is a terrible idea like really bad. I think this has potential, but as one of the last people pointed out, the risk of someone coming to harm over a chase would be an issue. Though in all fairness these things are, thankfully in most circles, still under the radar. As much as I'd love to have beanie baby status with these things, it's difficult enough as it is getting exclusives and char ones. I think generic ones should be sold in them. Freeing up more for places like HT and Barnes.

Pops dude not cabbage patch kids Christmas 1986 no fighting.[/quote]

im not saying that people fight or have fought over Funko's before BUT im just putting out my opinion saying that there is always a CHANCE for it if we are talking about chase, last one, exclusive. :-k Because lets think about it you've been stood or standing in the "queue/line " or whatever cause you going to get this pop but it could be the last one or its a chase or an exclusive and you go up to the machine and someone pushes in and takes the item you want and there none left now i wouldn't fight over it but someone with a different state of mind might whats to stop them there is no staff nor monitoring of it. What about an adult pushing in front off a kid or teenager whats to stop them whats to stop stealing if there is no monitoring over it the only thing its got going for it is it would be in a public place.
Still think its not a bad idea if it just had normal pop's in nothing special to free up other stores that have exclusive like B&N H&T and other shops .

The fight scenario sounds a lot to me like. Diet Mountain Dew commercial. You got the last Dt Dew? Fight ensues.

I don't see any way at all that there would be huge lines with people flocking to these unless there were only a couple around the country and only put out in specific times of the year. Otherwise it would be much like a claw machine at the mall... Sometimes you see people there sometimes you just walk on by.

Chase or not if people wanted a piece and couldn't get it they would likely react the same (calm and logical) way which is to just move on or attempt to buy it from the person ahead of them.

I think it's a fun idea and could help spread the brand some more so I'm all for it. But I feel there is a lot of over reacting above.
Jesse.

This would def be a great idea for anyone just wanting to grab a random POP. The possibility of any form of chase would be spectacular, but in all honesty I would rather see more of the crane machines Funko has. They seem to be more concentrated on rarer POPs (then again they could just be doing that for conventions) At the same time nothing can beat a great crane game..especially when you finally grab the one you had been working so hard for. Do we even know the cost to use the vending machine? Whats to say spending $20 on a vending machine beats out the $15 mark at a local store?

LOL@the fighting scenario... I highly doubt that would happen with just regular pops, but as seen at last Fundays, people can get quite rowdy for limited edition items HAHAHA (disappointing and funny at the same time). If they did put chases in there, that'd be great, much better than exclusives. Completely negates the idea of someone buying them all and flipping them and leaves the "chance" or "hunt" of a chase piece still intact.

I see the point of your post. From what I have been told people do fight over pops. It is sad and insane. On the flip side it is fun to hear the stories of the pathetic. It is sad though a fun little idea could lead up to dumb people being dumb.

How is one of the first things someone brings up about this is fighting? You'd have to be a real piece of work to throw down with a guy who was ahead of you in line which resulted in him being able to buy something before you.

I have heard stories of the SDCC pop machine. It did not sound pretty. Funko Days also sounds horrible. I had heard of grown woman being out right mean to other grown women for the stuff they scored. I really just don't get it unless money is really that big of a factor to people.

A Pop vending machine, would be sooooooo cool! It would have a large variety and easy access, but probably would not have any chances of chase or exclusive pops

If people are cross table bickering at Fun Days, chances are they are not Funatics. Don't get me wrong, it was chaos when Brian said that members that are at their first Fundays can go grab a proto, and then Funatics and their friends/family, and probably flippers, all rushed up. Funatics need to keep their friends/family in check like I did. But with many people, it's monkey see, monkey do. Felt bad for the booth workers that had to control the chaos.

And it is a fun event, as long as you're there to hang with other Funatics!

You must of missed the situation at FD when a large PoP figure got ripped apart from two men fighting over it....

Regardless, when it comes to these kinds of things, how someone acts/reacts at places like FD or in front of a vending machine, you'd be able to tell who's a true fanatic & who's not.
