Yeah. There are a few exceptions that I’d make. But I’m lucky to be able to be around a bunch of opportunities.

I enjoy going to VA signings and meeting the talent behind the characters. My autographed Sailor Moon collection is almost complete! I need 2-3 more. And meeting each one in person has been a lovely memory/moment for me.

The only autographed Pop! I own is Wash from Firefly signed by Alan Tudyk that I got from the California Browncoats one year at Comic Con. He does a lot of work and donating to them. But going forward I think I want to be the one to actually have them autograph the Pop!. It's not just the autograph it's the experience of doing it and being there

I like it when they have a authentication right on site at a con so you can immediately get it authenticated righ after the autograph.

It depends. If the authentication is easy/inexpensive, I'll do it, but these sigs are for ME, so Unless i'm buying a signature from someone else, I don't care if it's authenticated. However, if you are looking to straight up sell, get those authentications.

Just got back from Megacon... they had two certification services there... One of them, Alpha Omega Certification, only charged $10 per item, meaning if you had a cast poster for instance with several people on it, or a 3 pack pop with three sigs on it, the price for that was still only $10 . They were one aisle away from the signing area and when I visited their booth each day I never ever had to wait. The other service was an in house cert service for Megacon called OfficialPix. Being right in the signing area, their booth was always a long wait. They both work with CGC if you need grading, and Alpha-Omega would assign a witness for you in that case... So like anything else, it always pays to inquire and look around. Most cons will have a couple different Authentication Services on site.

Good to know. I prefer getting them certified (or buying ones that are certified) for that peace of mind that I know its not a fake sig. Lots of shady stuff in the world of sigs

This is great info. Thank you! I'm not too far from Orlando but didn't make it out to megacon. I was super curious about authentication too. What did you get signed?

Those are beautifulllll. Now I gotta ask, what paint pen brand do you use? I've only got a couple autographed and I went for the paint pen too. Looks so much better. Who was your favorite to interact with?

So.. the pens I brought were Sharpie Oil Based paint pens you can get at Michaels... The voice actors have TONS of pens and have them all primed and ready to go so I didn't need to give them a thing... They know exactly which colors to use and how to do them with quotes and all...

The regular celebrities either used mine of had one in hand that was suitable, I like the Sharpie ones because when properly primed they look awesome!

Favorites were the One Piece voice actors, Nicholas Hoult, Matt Smith, Andy Serkis, and Jamie Campbell Boyer. Had nice conversations with those.

Well, at Megacon a VIP badge is extremely helpful as you get a fast lane to autographs and photos.

Sharpie oil based. Noted! I'm glad they've caught on to use them over regular sharpies. Can you tell it's been a minute since I got one? Lol

Niceeeeee. Jaime and Andy look like cool chill people. It would be awesome to meet them.

Great haul!

I remember I used to have to take them myself but nowadays bigger artists / VAs have a lot of pens available which is certainly more convenient.

I dunno about that. I don't plan on selling any of my autographed pops, but I enjoy getting them authenticated after the signing. For me it just makes it that much more official, and it's like a final step. Will I get something signed that I can't authenticate? Absolutely, I have in the past and will again in the future. But since I was introduced to the concept of authentication, I take any opportunity to do it that I can.

I especially love it when the authentication service is right there at the convention / event. I've used both SWAU and JSA, and both have been quick and efficient. And I love that they offer a 'deal' at conventions on the prices for authentication.

I agree about the memories and journey too. Because 90% of the time it's not that easy haha. About the authentication, can also that be done after? Like not just at the con? Is that more complicated to prove it.

Elewitt2022 wrote:I have been collecting Funko for a few years now, and I got my first autographed Pops as part of a completist effort for my Scott Pilgrim set.

And then for a little while, I started picking up some random autographed Pops from local shops who could vouch for the signatures, and then I sent away items to autograph companies when they had interesting celebrities I could find Pops for. Eventually I even bought some on ebay, although these felt the most sketchy, with or without the various authentication stickers. [-o<

But ultimately, I decided that having an item signed in front of me, personalized with my own name right there on the box was the most satisfying. Each signed pop has a story now, and when its displayed on my shelf, its so much more meaningful! I understand that the personalization makes it less valuable, but it can't always be about resale, right? 8-[

Its definitely harder to get, but there are a few cons where you can get up close and request signatures, so I just keep an eye our for who will be visiting, and bring my own pop to be signed. :bounce:

I am curious how others on the board feel about autographs in general, and about personalization especially.

Also, if others know of good places to find signings, please share. I live in Atlanta, so Dragon Con is a great source for me each year!

I think autographs can be a nice touch and a nice addition to a collection for sure

Thanks for sharing those two companies. I'll definitely keep my eye out for them at the next con I am at. I am glad they do promotional pricing to incentivize more submissions during the show.

Same lol. When I went to anime pasadena I did meet someone who collects signed prints and showed me his binder which had an impressive collection

That's pretty cool! True collector right there going the binder route. The stories he must have!

My friend and I are on a line right now and connected with some people who love pops. We're everywhere

Where's the teary eyed smiling emoji? We really are everywhere and it's amazing how all this brings us together!

I have several signed pops. I also prefer to get them signed with me in person, but I have 2 that were signed without me there because it was the only way to get them.

It depends. If the authentication is easy/inexpensive, I'll do it, but these sigs are for ME, so Unless i'm buying a signature from someone else, I don't care if it's authenticated. However, if you are looking to straight up sell, get those authentications.

So many times, I have adventures either waiting in line for my signature, or something funny happens while I'm talking to the celebrity. That's why I do this - I'm in it for the adventure of it all! \:D/

As for authentication after - I believe so? I've never done it, but I hear about people sending their items in often enough. Hopefully someone else in here answered your question with more detail!

Thanks for sharing those two companies. I'll definitely keep my eye out for them at the next con I am at. I am glad they do promotional pricing to incentivize more submissions during the show.

Good luck! I will say, the slowest 'autographing' related line I ever stood in was SWAU....but it wasn't them, just my bad timing! Still worth it though!

Awwww sorry to hear that. I'll keep that in mind to wary of when I get something autograph/authenticated. Thanks for the heads up.

It's the hazard of autographing things, unfortunately. There's always a line! But the end result is always worth it, whether it's the autograph or the authentication.

For sure, definitely getting to meet the person always makes getting the autograph worth it for me \:D/

In person is probably best, especially if it's someone you've wanted to meet!

Been on a tear lately picking up signed Pops! I'm taking the Pops! I have and getting them signed. It's a fun way to keep the collection fresh and exciting.
