Why is ELF - Narwhal Funko Pop so rare?

Does anyone know why ELF - Narwhal so rare? :-k

I agree. It sold out online, but nearest Toys R Us had bunch in stock. Early today one store was stocking up more of them. Another Toys R Us customer stated this was one of the rare funko pop. There was only 1 rare Narwhal I have seen is on ebay. It has a missing mouth. Here's the link

I'd guess being sold out online makes it "rare." LOL It'll restock there soon enough.

I don’t know why anyone would think this is rare. My local TRU has had them every time I’ve gone.

I can't find any in San Diego so it's pretty rare to me!! I guess he swam away to join Buddy in the Big Apple.

This. People freak out when they see an item was supposed to be released on a certain date, but then for unforeseen reasons it gets delayed.

Example - Crota. It was supposed to come out, but then was delayed a month or so. People in Australia had them in hand though and the price skyrocketed. Then Crota released in the US and people went crazy and the price continued to stay high until they flooded the market. The same thing kind of happened with Narwhal, but I'm pretty sure his price will drop a lot sooner than with Crota.

None of my local stores have ever had them long enough to register the stock on the online search and I missed out twice buying online. TRU exclusives never stay on the shelves here since this is Flipperville. So to me, it is rare.

I think some these small errors are cool to have, but value is subjective.

You have to own both chase buddys first, then that will unlock your ability to find the Narwhal at TRU.

Definitely region specific. Because in my case then that Narwhal's pretty rare. Same for Geoffrey and Coco.

Yes it is. Unless it is an HT exclusive (and usually BL), I am probably going to have to go to eBay. And I am surrounded by TRUs, Targets, Walmarts, Barnes and Nobles, and Walgreens - some literally by the dozens.

No TRU exclusive is rare...some areas may get fewer than others or some areas just sell out faster.

If anyone can pick me up one of these guys, I would appreciate it! My TRU told me they would be an online only item and I was just kind of baffled.

I was able to reserve one for in store pickup the day this guy went live online, but by the time I made it into my local store a few days later they didn't have any others on the shelf, so I'm guessing they didn't get very many because I live in a smaller town.

I think a major part of this being so popular is that it's very in season - everyone's thinking about Elf right now. The Christmas Vacation Pops were very hard to get a hold of when they were first released because it was right before Christmas as well - then there was a flood of them everywhere after the holidays were over. Pending Toys R Us' financial future after the first of the year, I would imagine there will be a restock.
