Star Wars Mystery Minis Odds

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

Yeah, it's crazy. But still a very tough series to complete. We actually got a hammerhead in the gs case. So 1:72 but means little. There's still 10 very difficult pieces to find. So it's fine by me that the commons are easier found. Of course we don't know what the Wal-Mart case ratios are yet. So we will see.

I really hope that Walmart has the common Vader as 1/12, then I'll be able to get for around $10. I imagine holo Obi-Wan will be 1/72. I have all the commons except for Vader, as well as Stormtooper Han, and don't plan on buying any more blind boxes. I don't need/want the whole set, but would like the following:

    Stormtrooper Luke
Vader (any, but just need/want 1)
    Holo Obi-Wan
    Tie Fighter
    Tusken Raider

Don't really want Greedo variant or Chewbacca variant (although the Walmart exclusive is cooler).

I agree. I'm not going for the whole set. I just want to get one or two first. Really want to see if I like them at all. But they can't be found in SD.

Honestly, you should try buying one on ebay to see if you like it. It'll be cheaper than buying a blind box in the store. Seriously, C-3PO is $6 shipped as buy it now (probably less as an auction?), Leia is $7, Stormtrooper is $7.49. I wish I'd gone that route instead of buying all the boxes I did.lol

They really are great minis. Very well done. The bases interlocking is a great touch.

I honestly like the odds being mixed up from store to store. That way if you have bad luck at one store, you may get better luck at the other. The closer to 1/12 the better imo. I never am a fan of the exclusives being more than 1/12 odds.

We picked up two cases from GameStop today. One box was missing and this is what we got ... does the hunt continue or is eBay a better bet at this point .... hmm? :-k

Gamestop is probably the best all around. THey always get exclusives, they are usually the first to put a set out and they have a million locations. And somehow they do it without pricing like HT.

Oddly enough, I actually paid $2 less for my case of 12 at Hot Topic than the one from ThinkGeek/GameStop. The Hot Topic case totaled about $88 after tax, with the Buy 1 Get 1 30% off sale and added 10% off from an online order coupon.

Hot Topic's boxes are online now ... they are normally $8.90 a box but on sale for 25% Off. You can order up to 10 at a time. Based on where I've heard the "hits" are, front left top and bottom, the top two will probably be the first 2 taken out of the box for them to ship you the rest (so you could miss a hit). Scary, but I'm thinking about ordering some ... but I only need Greedo from HT.

So far, I've gotten everything except some of the exclusives (including of course Walmart) ... still on the hunt for:
Generic Boxes - Darth
GS Boxes - Darth and Luke as Stormtrooper (but I have 3 extra Han as Stormtrooper if anyone is interested in a trade)
HT Boxes - Greedo
I'm Greg. My son is "RSVHockeyDude". We collect Funko products together.
Pop! Count = 3133
Pop! Pez Count = 197
Funko Soda (My New Favorite): 762 different Sodas including Intl Versions
Other Funko Products (Hikari, Vynl, Wobblers, etc) = 87
Proto Count = 14 Pop (Mostly NHL; a little of Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, Disney, The Simpsons); 4 Soda (NYCC Freddy)

I don't have anything to trade for the GS Han as Stormtrooper that is not common - Leia, Chewy, Walrus Man, Greedo (common) and C3P0 .... but if you want to sell, let me know!

I agree. Is hard to find the exclusives from Gamestop. Try several ones and only can get Han Solo Trooper and not one else. Even in my area there are some stores that not even carry them. And also really hard to find the Vader. :(

Just a thought, but you could try placing 2 orders of 6. Maybe they'll just pack the top and bottom layers separately? That's of course assuming they don't just unbox all the cases into one big pile and then start assigning the individual boxes to orders.

I think they will keep them in cases, easier for storage and less damage to the boxes.

What I'd really like to do is trade one of my GS Han Excl for the HT Greedo ... then I'll be done with HT :) But your idea is probably the best way to tackle it!

It's not your imagination. At first, I thought someone did a head swap ... but then a buddy of mine showed me a photo of his that he pulled and it was also facing the same way. I'll take that as a variation that needs to be found to complete the set.

Very satisfied with this series. Picked up a case at Gamestop and did get a couple doubles, but Vader made up big time in the end. Did want the Stormtrooper Luke and Han, so will hopefully trade or pick them up on that auction site. Still need to get a couple from Hot Topic and waiting on the Walmart exclusives to hopefully score Spirit of Obi Wan.

I wonder if that is an actual variant, or just an error of some sort. I checked on the bay and only found 1 where the eyes faced to the right, when looking directly at the fig.

I see on eBay, Stormtrooper Luke looks right or left, but lightsaber Luke looks left only. There's multiple Stormtrooper Luke's with both versions. I wonder if Stormtrooper Luke should look the opposite direction of lightsaber Luke, but the factory just out whatever head was available on.

why did I think many of these rarities on these seemed like a nightmare - and Hammerhead is really a common right - so if some store has it as a 1/72 does that really mean anything?
and seems on Ebay they start at like $6 but you don't start to get to any somewhat rare ones till about $24

I love Star Wars above most things, but these are going to hurt unless I just settle for s smallish bunch of the common & few of the good exclusives & Wal Marts in my area almost always get virtually nothing

I said this in the other thread, but I'm not so pessimistic about Walmart. Yes, they have an extremely spotty track record recently on stocking their exclusive MM & PSH. I know that as well as any after months of checking for Spider-man MMs and them only ever being stocked in 1 of 4 Walmarts. Street Fighter PSH, Power Rangers PSH, Disney PSH same story (actually SF and Disney would be zero Walmarts in my immediate area; I had to drive 40 miles to find my Street Fighter set).

But... this is Star Wars. And Walmart knows Star Wars sells. All the Walmarts I've seen have stocked a ludicrous number of Rogue One pops and Black Series action figures. Also, they all had maybe 8 cases of the common X-men figures. I would not be a bit surprised if they go big with these Star Wars minis.

Some Gamestops around me have started to put restocks of the Star Wars minis out, which suggests that Funko is prepared to sell a lot of these things as well.

well that's fine & dandy for wherever you might live, but all that stuff you said of past things at Wal Marts you experienced, not really anything of that nature showed up at the ones in my area, so I have very little optimism on ever finding the mystery minis in my Walmarts

and nice, Gamestop - you can only order 5 figures online & I just called my local store & they said they had no way to even order a case for me & were currently sold out anyway & didn't know when they were getting more in - this all sucks for these things - I can buy a Gamestop case on Ebay for 159.99, yeah that's happening

Don't worry, these will saturate. Even the exclusives are coming down alittle, as people chase Vader. Force Friday should have these in quantity and it might be why stores are holding back alittle.

well I did get lucky, the Gamestop on the other side of town did tell me they had like 21 of them, so I went there & looks like basically one case was probably untouched so I bought it - we'll see if I get the Luke & Han I really hope for

All I want is the Jawa and Ponda Baba. Maybe a stormtrooper or Shadow Stormtrooper or two.

And really, this whole thread has gone this long without anyone saying "Never tell me the odds."? I am disappointed.

Probably is just nitpicking, but I have noticed so far that not all bases are configured the same. I want to display these on a shelf, all in one line, connected together. Because the configuration of the "in and outs" of the base not being all the same, I cannot do it. Curse you Snaggletooth, Greedo, Obi Wan...

What I think is funny ... There were about 10 different spots on the shelves at Funko HQ this weekend with cases of Star Wars Minis ... I couldn't pull the trigger on them though since they were all generic cases (not Walmart, GS or HT) and the only thing I still need (with the exception of the 3 Walmart exclusives) is the generic Vader.

I'm a little bummed because I feel like these different ratios will diminish the thrill of the blind bags. Some of you might know that I'm a big MM collector and I usually buy full cases that I like to open up with my kids. I tell them what the ratios are of getting one and they get so excited when they find that "harder to find" one. That being said, aftermarket values for those that straight purchase, will be great. You will be able to find a 1/72 at less than $10 since that same mini is also a 1/12 in the regular case. Yup, thats the great part of this. Maybe its the collector and the gambler in me that enjoys the thrill of blind bags...buying and buying until you get that elusive 1/72 ..the thrill of finding it on my own. What are you guys thoughts on this?

Yeah the all over ratios kinda sucks. Especially when people are deliberately getting al the good ones to flip. This does sorta stop that but it's making the exclusives that much harder to obtain. I still love the minis though and can't wait to see what else comes. And hopefully one day I'll get my han stormtrooper since I convinced a customer to buy some and he got it from my store lol.

Just started collecting this stuff. Blind boxes are so fun and addictive. Can't wait to get my hands on that Walmart exclusive Obiwan.

I'm down to needing 2 HT and 3 WM ones, have everything else.

I'm thinking I'll try my luck on 1 Walmart case online (buy 12 usually gets a case, loose though) and go to eBay for the rest. I totally struck out at the 5 Hot Topics I checked, all were down to very few left so I didn't risk it.

Are most people turning to eBay to complete their sets? This one seems worse than the other minis I've collected (Fallout, Fallout 4, HoTS, X-Men, Spider-man Classic) but I'm not sure if its just early, more demand, or just weird due to the ratios.
464 Pops (4in) | 30 Dorbz | 208 Mystery Minis | 64 Pint Size Heros | 22 Pops (6in) | 7 Pop Deluxe | 14 Pop (2/3-packs) | ~30 other misc items

First: Soldier 76
Favorite: Headless Ned Stark
Freddies: Green Chrome, Lime Green Chrome, Purple Chrome, Black Chrome, Night King, Fallout Boy, Kylo Ren, Gold Robot
ISO: Metallic Thing; Metallic Genie; Metallic (SDCC) Captain America

With the amount of money you have spent to get that close to finishing the sets what do you recommend? Would it be more cost effective to just go to eBay and put this set together? I'm just curious. I have 2 figures already and am really skeptical to get more because I think I may just waste a bunch of money getting doubles. Which strategy would you use if you could start over?

If I could start over I'd just go the ebay route. Trying to sell/trade duplicates is brutal too, if they're not an exclusive.
