I saw something like this on etsy. I was thinking about how i can make this myself. The guy below me i think goes to Cal Arts which is not that far away from me, he is always hammering something together. I was thinking maybe go to a art school student ask them how much to make something like this. College kids always need money right?

Yeah...I've got 4 in college, actually--two study some distance away. Those 2 are on the phone with me right now by coincidence...needing money, no less. Sad thing is (they pointed this out to me just now) they're not in California, and they're not art students. I'm just out of luck on this one. But your assertion is 100% correct--teenagers (boys in particular) ALWAYS want something to eat, and college kids ALWAYS need (or it is want) money. By the way, those displays look nice. ;-)

Thank you. I agree with the sentiment that I've heard from others--in that I think it's an unappreciated piece. The unmasked Black Panther is similar in that respect. These look much better in person than in many of their pics. Anyway, thanks again.

I ordered one of those displays off of etsy. It should be here soon. I hope it fits the items the way I have it in my head.

You probably already do this--but I rotate Pops! in some limited spaces. Kind of psychologically "expands my room". In any case, it's great that you're a funatic. Thanks for your comments :) .

That's an amazing Star Wars collection you have there! The Force Awakens collection in particular really stands out!

I've been on and off again with my love affair for Star Wars Pop!s...I've bought and sold my (micro-scale compared to this!) collection 3 times over. The line is just so overwhelming and expansive that I just felt like my collection was never going to feel grounded or complete.

The good news is I've now decided just to collect the many aliens, critters and rogues from Jabba's Palace. The ROTJ Palace scenes are my favorite part of all the Star Wars films to date. I just love the array of bizarre creatures on display. It just took the previous Cantina stuff to a whole new level of extraterrestrial awesomeness imo.

And admittedly it allows me to cheat not unlike the original production and include characters such as Jawa and Greedo ;)

Nice Star Wars collection and ideas. Like some of you, I'm planning (but haven't done it yet) on putting some of the collection on display in my office at work too. Kind of thought a Walking Dead, Horror, and maybe even a Pop! music star section(s) might work well there--as conversation pieces, since a lot of the women have historically been Walking Dead fans...and my kids don't know horror or some of those other categories I mentioned so well. I don't think they would miss them so much at the house. Needless to say, like all of us, one has to take this hobby one step at a time. It's one that can certainly get away from you. :)

Don't forget to share pics when you get the collection up at your work! :) I kept 1 Walking Dead Pop! - wave 1 Sheriff Rick Grimes. Again another line that's just too much for me to handle. Plus admittedly I haven't watched the series post season 3 (just lost interest as it became a bit too emotionally taxing...didn't help that I was experiencing loss in real life).

I have a very small plastic tub of Pop! singles, sidelines and oddities that I've kept due to nostalgic interest. Probably be able to fill another when I take the smaller sets out of the box and put them in storage (21 Jump St, Step Brothers, Christmas Vacation, b9 Robot, Clark Kent into Superman etc).

But yes I'm not actively looking to expand with too many random purchases or new franchise lines. It used to get away from me. But life finds a way to make you re:evaluate things (in my case important personal responsibilities and on and off financial hardship).

- I won't be expanding the horror collection too much further...probably got room for another 3 max and that's only if the right characters come up
in Pop! form (basically whatever 3 of these materializes first: Norman Bates, Norma Bates, Chatterer Cenobite, Dr. Herbert West, Tarman zombie).

- I'm not expanding my Doctor Who Pop! collection. I might bite if they release classic Doctors / villians, but have made a pact with myself that I
will be very selective in what I actually buy. A 3rd Doctor Pop! being a probable buy...a Delgado Master too perhaps? BUT I'm actually looking at
getting rid of most (if not all) of the new series based (2005-2017) 9, 10, 12th Doctor Who era Pop!s.

- The lines I'm all in to for better or worse (sans ridiculously overpriced, scarce exclusives) are Futurama and Batman 66". At this stage all I'm
missing from Futurama is the Alternate Universe Fry & Leela 2-pack (which I could live without) and the basic Batman / Batmobile Pop! rides (I
have the chrome exclusive, so again not hugely worried about the absence of the regular release).

The new collecting addition is the Star Wars Jabba Palace related character releases (not going near anything Skiff...Pandora's box ppl lol) and if the reveals wow me...*maybe* the new MOTU stuff (however I don't have wave 1 so...). But I'm going to approach this with caution before leaping in to another line...something which I was ready to do with Looney Tunes recently (really must adopt serious restraint!)...

No doubt life and circumstances might even bring about a need to clamp down further and rework the above list, but for now that's where I stand in the Pop! world...

Sorry about those really big challenges you mentioned. Really, they're unavoidable...they happen to all of us now and then, at some point in our lives. I'm glad you didn't abandon the hobby and give up on everything completely. It's clear that Pop! collecting still brings you joy (me too!), and I think something like this--anything that an individual feels passionate about--is important for relief and as a bit of an escape mechanism.

For most of us, rotating our collections from time to time is a near necessity...as Funko will simply not stop introducing new, provocative, attractive lines and versions of characters. We all have to reassess from time to time and reevaluate what is most important to us.

That Clark Kent becoming Superman you mentioned is one of my favorite Pops! of all time!...even though IT'S JUST A "COMMON". I got a couple pieces signed by Adam West at the Fan Expo Dallas Comic Con he appeared at earlier this year. I said to him that it was a privilege to meet and get signatures from the Original Batman. He paused for a few seconds as if to redirect me, then substituted the words "Classic Batman" with a slight grin on his face. It made all of us in the line laugh, and I communicated to him that I stood corrected :) .

Yes, I will be sure to post pics of the office collection too as I progress further with that project. As I was mentioning to another collector just yesterday--"Pop Art" and comic merchandise collecting and display have become so darned expensive these days!!!

Anyway, love engaging with you and other enthusiastic collectors. Hang in there, man. You should know that you and others are in many of our prayers [-o<

Thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot :) Love the Adam West story lol He really is a class act! Are you looking forward to the second animated film with Shatner as Two Face?!

Planning on really knuckling down on the Pop! habits more actually...thinking of just sticking with Futurama and Batman 66" lines as an ongoing commitment and just keep the mib 4th Doctor era Doctor Who Pop!s (also probably the few comedy movie Pop!s) I have, along with the displayed horror selection. Really needing to get a sense of self / identity back...just overwhelmed by Pop!s and collecting in general.

I've actually been downsizing my non-Pop! collection for the last 2 yrs, but haven't successfully culled it down to where it needs to be yet.

I totally agree with the high prices on "Pop Art" and comic / tv / movie merchandise nowadays. I can remember here when Neca 18" figures were $79.99...now they retails for on average $180AUD and upwards!

I can't imagine how people collect (or can afford!) all the replica prop and statue pieces getting released. I mean they are spending thousands of dollars...for me $300 is a HUGE investment on a collectible piece...even in the good times!

I can't imagine how people collect (or can afford!) all the replica prop and statue pieces getting released. I mean they are spending thousands of dollars...for me $300 is a HUGE investment on a collectible piece...even in the good times!

I didn't even know about the film or Shatner as Two Face! Thanks for the communication.

Regarding the latter comment--yeah, the numbers associated with some Pop! and Statue transactions is staggering! It's rather obvious that one of the reasons prices have held up so well is because there are suitors at various levels--which testifies to Funko's broad-based appeal. Of course, no one has everything. I really do have fun seeing what's in other people's collections, and how they arrange and manage their collectibles.

I started out insect and stamp collecting when I was a kid...and now...well...here I am--a funatic! I/we seem to be in generally good company on this board--sharing comments and ideas with fun-minded people of all ages and levels. I think most of us realize it's not the size of our individual collections that matters most. Even though I know it sounds cliché, it's an individual's passion that means the most...to continue to be enthusiastic about collecting when others around you think you're crazy...or to return or continue collecting or participating on the board in the face of hardship. I'm going to step off a limb and say that what I think Funko appreciates most is enthusiasm. It'd be great if everyone had Gi-normous collections, but not everyone can. That's why a good portion of the Funko business focuses on producing products that are pretty affordable. Where the price goes from there is not their direct doing. I think Funko goes out of its' way to reward faithfulness and enthusiasm--with recognition/participation "gifts", awards and labels of encouragement, first purchase options, and so on. Enthusiastic collectors with small collections are every bit as important and "Big" to Funko as any other...at least, that's what I believe. A collection size is not an absolute indicator or measure of enthusiasm. Some flippers, for instance, have a lot of stuff; some very enthusiastic collectors, perhaps like yourself, may have less by comparison. You yourself appear to be one among a number of enthusiastic collectors here--remarkable in my mind for having gone thru apparent hardship and challenge, and you're still showing up here on this board trying to participate. My hats off to you, popmad2016. I for one am glad you're a funatic

I ordered one of those displays off of etsy. It should be here soon. I hope it fits the items the way I have it in my head.

I really want to see how it comes out and how you feel about it. I am also interested in knowing what the back is made of.

It is an 18" laminated pine circle that is 3/4" thick that you can buy at any Orchard Supply Hardware. PM me and I'll send you pics and ideas. Let me know if you have questions! Everyone should have a cool OOB funko display.

Yep, it's the sequel to last years "Return of the Caped Crusaders" :) Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar will once again be returning to voice their characters alongside Shatner as Two-Face. I'm assuming it's an animated adaptation of the unproduced 66" script that was turned into a comic a few years back...

I must admit that Funko is unlike any other toy / collectibles company out there. They really do seem to want to accommodate and communicate with their customers / fans. They LISTEN to us and yes, even provide us with rewards for being loyal.

Plus with so many lines and variations one can really have a Funko-only room and not be missing out on anything from rival companies. IMO this is an exciting reality, but I can't help (with Pop! at least) feel a bit melancholy.

Aside from Pop! I've successfully resisted Dorbz (although I've been so very close to pulling the trigger in the past), but I've collected / dabbled with Mystery Minis and x3 mini Darth Vader Hikari. My dog even has his Orange Batman Mopeez toy! lol

I've just bought a Prism Bossk Hikari and I'm thinking of moving away bit from Pop! to start collecting affordably priced (i.e. shopping around) Hikari. The more limited range and price restrictions will perhaps not only prove to be more of a challenge to collect, but will also help me to perhaps appreciate them more...

Visiting the forum here is a great escape from the harsh realities of my current situation and I really do enjoy meeting ppl like yourself. It's fun to engage in conversation without drama, along with sharing interests in the same passion. Not too mention seeing all these awesome collections and displays!

Thanks so much donofoblivion for the support and kindess :) Proud to be a fellow funatic! :freddy2: :freddy3:

Even though my Pop! journey is winding down, it's exciting that the Funko adventure is just beginning!
