Harry Potter S3 MM

Great things come in mysterious miniature or pint sized packages, but which great thing will it be? It's all a mystery until you open one. Then the fun begins.

At least with Target, I don't think the employees are concerned with them enough to mess up the layout. Good luck finding an untouched case!

Completely agree, it makes it really tough when the good stuff is top front. It made finding the LotR really hard, especially at HT’s where the good ones were always top front right, just like these. If you don’t find a fresh case, odds are it’s not even worth your time

This is true. But I guess from Funko's perspective if that random person got a really good one they might want to start collecting to complete the set?

Most definitely. I would say someone would be a lot less likely to buy another one if the first ones they get are all 1/6’s, unless that’s the character(s) they were hoping to pull. It’s definitely a fine balance for Funko

Oh, completely agree for the newbies. It must be super exciting if, on their first pull, they snag one of the hard to find ones! I can remember how excited I was when I opened a McGonagall cat, or a Yule Ball Hermione! That's where I like the exclusives being 1/12. Flippers won't completely decimate the cases for those (at least, not that I've seen), and you still get people super excited to snag an exclusive. And we die-hard collectors don't need to pull multiple difficult figures so that we have trade bait later!

I think too, with the HP sets, that's why Harry is always a 1/6. You get some kid that wants Harry Potter, they've got a good chance of that. Same for Ron and Hermione. Annoying as all get out for those of us that pay attention to ratios, and want the whole set. That's why I'm particularly loving the ratios on S3, these ratios are much kinder than ratios of past sets!

Went to a few targets, ill spare the long story (one employee verrrrrrry much hates pop collectors, he didnt hold back) but end result of the day is one Target let me by two minis, no exclusives but I got Draco and Crabb. I needed Crabb so small win. Ill go try again on the 8th which is apparently the street date most around me are keeping to the rest sold out.
Hopefully come the 8th the rest of the targets haven't sold out too  Target, always a gamble.

Found these at one Target (the other had already been picked over, and the last one that showed in stock the guy said he couldn't find them). I got a Ron and Goyle, not too bad a haul! Unfortunately, the guy would only let us do one mini per person (Nate was with me luckily). So I couldn't get a Harry even though I know he was there.

People keep saying the 8th is suppose to be a put on shelf by date meaning they can sell whenever they want but has to be on shelf by 7/8

Yeah, what sucks is that the next shift person will probably read it differently and sell them before 7/8. I've had that happen several times before.

yeah I've had some targets where the employees just don't care and say they haven't seen them (sometimes I found them sitting on the shelves after they said that which is hilarious). But I have had a few stores now where the employees are actually really great and have searched high and low in various parts of their stock rooms and haven't been able to find them. Also got the whole speech about how they aren't going to put them out until the 8th and they are telling everyone that to make it fair, and then I checked back in the next day and they had sold them all. Luckily I haven't run into the "one per person" rule yet, since it just doesn't even make sense for Mystery minis, but at one Target they found the case in the back and were talking among themselves if it was ok for me to buy 3, but they went ahead and let me since I was the only one that had come looking for them. Although the odds for this set are technically better, I feel like it's been more brutal. I have had to go through 6 cases at HT and Target now before I managed to get all 3 of the exclusives from each. I'm worried about B&N since I don't have that many around me anymore so I may have to try my luck online.

Most definitely. I would say someone would be a lot less likely to buy another one if the first ones they get are all 1/6’s, unless that’s the character(s) they were hoping to pull. It’s definitely a fine balance for Funko

Yeah, this is where it becomes an extremely fine balance for Funko. They want to be able to attract new collectors but they also want to be able to please hardcore collectors/completists. If they only please us, while we will always happy, they won't be able to survive forever. They have to have average people make purchases too/appeal to the average person.

I think they do a pretty decent job balancing it, at least with the HP sets. This set, in my opinion, is a lot kinder than some of the sets that have come out recently! And the designs they're picking have been great - lots of friends of mine that are willing to buy up my extra commons!

I think a lot of the sets lately have been pretty good ratio wise, not counting Deadpool lol. I feel like in general they are moving towards much more nicer ratios. Fewer 1/72s.

I do tend to agree with this. I feel better about S3 than I ever did about S2. All I need are Target and B&N exclusives. What makes this set appear tougher is that everyone Hardcore mini collectors, flippers and casual HP fans scoop up all things HP

I agree, with the more popular sets (and especially when boxes get misprinted with ratios) more popular sets are becoming hard to complete.

Hi! New to posting, but have been lurking the HP mini boards since I discovered S2 way late in the game. (Thank you all for enabling me!)

Anyone know what Target Ron's face paint is about? I could guess that the K is for Krum, and I'm assuming the other cheek is a flag, but all I can find for those colors are a version of the anarchist socialist flag lol

Still waiting for Target exclusives on the east coast!

The face paint is the colors for the Bulgarian Quidditch Team. It is from the scene in Goblet of Fire when the go to the Quidditch World Cup final - Bulgaria vs Ireland.

Ooh, that makes sense! I got caught up in the rectangle shape & couldn't move my brain away from the thought of it being a flag. Thanks!!

I can't say for certain either way - mostly I've only collected HP or Marvel. I do know that the IW set was just hideous with the ratios, but this HP set has, so far, been a lot kinder. I don't have a zillion extras of one character, which is a wonderful change. Target has been a bit frustrating, but at least there's a LOT of Targets to try. Still a little worried about B&N, but we'll see. At least they normally have more than 1 case per store!

I do tend to agree with this. I feel better about S3 than I ever did about S2. All I need are Target and B&N exclusives. What makes this set appear tougher is that everyone Hardcore mini collectors, flippers and casual HP fans scoop up all things HP

lol , yeah, this set isn't a problem because of the ratios, it's a problem because it's HP!

This is true!! But they are releasing so many amazing molds and characters!! lol lol

I seriously need the Barnes & Noble cases to either come out this week or wait until after the 24th for when I'm back from SDCC. That's not too much to ask for, right? lol Also from the hunt I am experiencing a serious Filtch flood. I think I have 9 of that angry old man at this point! Why must I always get a Filtch case?!
Hi, I'm Merri!
