This is adorable, afraid of the eventual flocked, 10", metallic, chrome, gitd, and angry eyebrows versions of just pikachu, not to mention the whole cast of main pokemon to catch.

Interesting The Pokemon Company made this deal, reminder to everyone they are a separate company from Nintendo, which was a big point with the iOS games like Pokemon Go, Pokemon Duel, Pokemon Quest, Pokemon Magikarp Jump. Those don't impact Nintendo's earnings at all, that's just when Nintendo releases Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, Fire Emblem Heroes, and their actual brands.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think Funko would license this from The Pokemon Company regardless of Nintendo's opinion on the matter, though a successful roll out could convince Nintendo.

Either way, Pikachu looks great, interesting that there's nothing on the back.

I'm surprised that it was announced/leaked like it was. The fact that it was already purchased by someone means that the announcement was pretty late, unless they were waiting for Fundays. But if you're waiting for Fundays, why have it release around the same time? That said, Funko has often made their announcements after the rest of the world already knows about it, but I thought a Nintendo licensed deal would have them step up their game as far as that's concerned. Just my rambling 2 cents...

No, you are totally off in this post. Pokemon are jointly owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures, the three companies that jointly own The Pokemon Company. The Pokemon Company controls the Pokemon IP. Nintendo solely owns the trademarks to the Pokemon name and the names of the characters. Nintendo also reportedly has a small stake in Creatures.

So while it’s totally accurate to say that Nintendo gets a smaller slice of any Pokemon mobile games, it’s inaccurate to suggest that The Pokemon Company is independent of Nintendo. Pokemon is controlled by Nintendo.

Nintendo just owns the trademark, Game Freak and Creatures have the majority control of the franchise

As percentages yes, but without the trademarks and the backing of Nintendo, what do Game Freak and Creatures really have? Does anyone really envision them being able to do anything without Nintendo? Unbranded plushes? I’ll reiterate: Nintendo controls Pokemon.

Since they all own 33%, and The Pokemon Company acts as the agent to manage it, license it, publish/co-publish games and are directly involved in the development of any products carrying the license. They operate stores and help produce toys, card games, and Pokemon-branded yogurt. And they are indeed included among the copyright notices on every Pokemon product since the inception of the company at the turn of the millennium. They serve the brand in the best interests of the companies that do own it, and yes, that sometimes means doing things that don’t fit Nintendo’s plans like a glove.

So, yes you're right, but I'm not totally off (weird dismissal), All I was saying was The Pokemon Company can do what they want for licensing, and it doesn't mean that 100% Nintendo properties will come as pops.
