any Georgia peeps?

Postby Barryyyyy » Sun Jul 19, 2015 7:59 am

or the ATL area in particular? I'm in Athens, our Hot Topic closed 5-6 years ago(pretty much undercut by, and verbally berated to, customers of Junkman's Daughter's Brother)and we've just got the one B&N(which is in a p***-poor excuse of a shopping strip), 2nd and Charles has a decent selection of commons and Walmart & Toys R Us have the usual "handful". I usually travel to the HTs and B&Ns in Gwinnett(and sometimes the HTs at Stonecrest and in Anderson, SC)to buy Pop!s. I was just curious if maybe we all could keep each other in the loop as far as who has new releases/exclusives and what's available in general at the shops we frequent? I do buy online from HT sometimes but I'm an old-school shopper who likes to see and feel what I'm about to purchase(yes, I do squeeze the produce at Kroger). Any help/heads up/friend requests/Instagram follows/meet ups/whatevers would be beneficial at least to me, because I feel like I'm out in no-man's-land. Thanks!!!

Yeah I'm half an hour south of Atlanta and it can be rough. Fortunately there's a BAM and a GameStop within walking distance of me. Unfortunately the nearest ht is up at south lake mall, a solid 45 minute drive. So yeah I really just have to do online shopping. And I agree! We should figure out maybe an ATL FDO

yo yooo! im about an hour north of ATL, so im in walking distance of a gamestop, and a BAM, and theres a mall and a super friendly, stocked HT (Town Center) a 20ish minute drive from me. I have always wondered about funatics in and around the ATL :)

It's been forever since I've been to Town Center.....almost a year! I went to the Vans store up at the outlets in Woodstock and stopped by that HT on my way back. Wanted to stop at 2nd and Charles and B&N near the mall too but needed to get back to Athens.

Never been down to South Lake but sounds like your Pop! hunting spots are far and few between like mine!

Also an FDO would be fun but with the three of us at least 30-60 minutes OTP, a central location would probably have to be ITP.....and that's just us! Anyone else may be further out :(

There are more people on the board from Georgia. They held a Funko party in the spring.

i am in love with that 2nd and Charles. it has such an amazing selection of pops AND second hand comics. my two weaknesses lol the HT has really stepped up their funko pop game in the recent days, too

Im about to be in Clemson for the year and there seems to be nothing here for a good 30 mins pop related. I plan on going into Atlanta since its only a 2 hour drive. Was going to check to see what was in Greenville and Athens too but it seems like outside of Atlanta its going to be rough to find great spots

Athens and Atlanta are both great cities! Athens just doesn't have much for Pop!s. If you're gonna be in Clemson, you're close to Anderson and Greenville, and if you're traveling to the ATL, you'll pass the Mall of Georgia on I-85 which is where I go mostly for Pop!s at that HT and B&N.

Thanks for the input! How is that entire area with getting shipments and exclusives in wither on time or at all?

The store I usually shop at(HT Mall of Ga)is a high-volume store so they usually get new Pop!s a week or so after they hit the west coast. I have a good rapport with the person who runs their Instagram and she lets me know when they get new/exclusive Pop!s. BUT......they do sell out quickly(I missed 3 waves of shipments with cloaked Predator and finally bought him online and used ship-to-store)so it helps if you have a contact.

Southlake Mall Hot Topic is typically pretty poor in supply. They didn't even receive a shipment of Pop tees for SDCC.

I live 30 mins north of Clemson. Greenville and Anderson have a few spots to track down POPs. I can't say you'll find a lot to do, but definitely plenty of places to purchase Funko products.

Sugarloaf Mills Mall has an F.Y.E, BAM, GameStop and this store called Pica Pica which has a great selection. They get lots of the new releases and have some commons that I've only seen online.

Same with Gwinnett Place HT and Stonecrest HT. They only have 2 or 3 shelves for Pop!s. Except.....last time I was at Stonecrest HT, they had a Batman 01 chase sitting right on the front of the shelf! Surely neither the staff or customers knew what it was just sitting out like that! This was about 2 months ago, I didn't have the money that day and surely someone has picked it up by now. I'd've given anything to have gotten back down there to pick it up. :(

Im in Alpharetta, work in Norcross - theres a B&N at the Forum near my work that doesnt seem to get different stock very often, havent really been in the Hot Topics @ Northpoint Mall or Gwinnett Place other than a handful of times, they seem to have a ton of stock but not the ones I was looking for when i went. The Books-A-Million at Sugarloaf mills also has been a good place for a bunch of commons for me.

Mostly get my pops from Amazon, though a couple of packaging issues recently mean i wish i could get more in person.
