Do you buy two of each Pop? One to open and one to save?

I am always curious what my fellow Funko Fanatics collections are like and really enjoy hearing what and how everybody collects.

My question today is this:

Do you buy two of each Pop? One to open and enjoy, and one to save mint in the box for collecting purposes?

LOL, I barely have enough room for one of each.

But I am an OOB person anyway

Sometimes because we’re husband and wife pop collectors and we don’t realize or forgot the other person bought it despite having a massive spreadsheet to solve this problem Mostly though, we’ve been buying an extra more often as a habit to help out fellow collectors and sell at cost or trade. I feel like most people in our local Funko groups try to look out for each other that way too.

Nope. I never have enough room. I even donated a bunch to Toys for Tots and that was just to get me back down to capcity.

"Meant to be taken out" is just an opinion. Even if Funko publishes that idea, it has to be taken with a grain of salt since that is there standard defense against replacing boxes. Do they say that because Brian truly believes that or do they say that so they don't want to replace boxes? Find me a picture of Brian's office showing his non Funko collection. I want to see where he has tossed the packages of his toys.

Pictures of his office have been shown before - and every single collectible is out of box. I don't have a direct link to any, but most interviews with him have shown his office.

I'm sure Funko appreciates both in and oob collectors, as both increase their profit.

There is so much detail on the figures, that I believe they are genuine in stating out of box. But to each their own.

Yeah, I've seen a lot, but I only ever see Funko stuff around his office. Of course, when you make the darn stuff, the box isn't important to you. I'm curious about the 60s and 70s toys that he collects. I still wager he has toys in boxes and MOC.

I still don't see the point of arguing that what the manufacturer of a toy says has more weight than what the collector feels like doing. Again, of course, they want you to open their toy and see the creation they made. Doesn't make you closer to any deity if you do that though.

I think you might be taking this a little too serious. I stated my opinion that I was baffled why people would want to leave them in the box. I'm in no way knocking down people who do, I just personally don't get it myself. You aren't wrong, I'm not wrong, and this is in no way an argument or stating that anyone does it the wrong way when people are free to do what they please. It's just an opinion, I stated it and now I'm moving on.

These are 'collectibles' so oob seems sacrilege... however, i have 1/2 my collection of lines i enjoy oob and the other 1/2 in box in pop stacks because they are valuable as collectibles. If I had the money, i'd buy 2 and display one oob.

i usually buy 2. 1 to keep loose and the other in the box

I do this only for my Batman case. Rare ones I’ll keep in in the box and other commons in the bat case.

I think they look perfectly fine in the box and will keep mine that way. But to each their own, I don't think anyone is crazy for opening them.

If its a character or pop that I really like, Ill get two, but most of the time, one is good enough.

I did that with A LOT of Marvel pops, I have my in box display in my toy room and my OOB display in my living room.

I try not to buy more than one. The only time I do is when getting Disney Parks to help friends who weren’t able to go to the release.

i usually buy 3 if its online so i can pick the best box( if its something i love; mostly Disney pops) and usually open one and the other either return it or give it to my friends that wants it.

I did this along time ago with sailor Moon dolls. When they both were stolen I said never again. Double heartbreaking

It depends on the figure and its exclusivity. For example, the Boxlunch exclusive Mickey. I have two chases and two standard, but I'm only displaying one standard because it's so neat! And for some reason, opening chases gives me a weird feeling; like my conscience is saying "NO"
