Interested to see what they offer. Seems like this is just like the Droppp drops but different way to purchase them?

I'm trying to figure out if this is actually going to work. It's basically just paying (a lot) for more limited pieces. I know lots of people buy them aftermarket at those sorts of prices, so it should. But it just feels different...

Do we get to vote for he’s that will be a higher price point/low number ?
We should not get excited for certain pops because now it seems like they would take that idea and make it the rare ones

It'll be interesting to see how this unfolds. Not sure if they're trying to curb the secondary market or get a piece of it, but it does take away some of the thrill of the chase

As long as they are different molds I can understand it from a manufacturing standpoint as the cost per unit is significantly higher, but if it is just a different paint job on a common, total rip-off.

I am on the fence with this. Not sure I like higher price points just for a le item. Hopefully it's done the right way. What that means I have no clue. Hopefully new molds. Hopefully the signed ones are always new molds and not a way to move sitting commons. Just hope they are creative with how they officially roll it out to build hype

I'm pretty sure Wondercon was their testing ground for this. Those prices were wild.

I'm not sure that their PRICING policy was a failure per say, but their overall showing at Wondercon was very lackluster. Relatively uninteresting releases with no real in demand pieces. There were a couple that were nice but they only sold out of a couple of things. And the random pieces that they decided to make Show Only exclusives with lower LE/production numbers, but higher prices I don't think ever sold out. The standby line on Sunday I think had access to EVERYTHING except they weren't giving away the freebie posters/stickers/pins or whatever.
My main gripe is that the D&D figure, of a character MOST PEOPLE would not have known who she was, was also the most expensive Exclusive at the booth. They DEFINITELY did not sell out of her.

They did find that people would pay the extra $5 for the protectors, which isn't bad, and now it'll be baked into the price from now on. However their more limited items were more expensive. That definitely dropped some interest in those items, but they also weren't the more popular items. Imagine if they sold the next LE Luffy for $40. They'll still sell out for sure, and Funko will make much more money.

THat makes sense. And yeah, a popular IP or character at a higher price point but with a low LE, would kill

virtually no sellouts even the "limited" items, i didn't think it was a bad lineup personally but if this was a proof of concept for their new price gouging scheme it didn't prove their concept.

I like the concept and will watch how it plays out but doubt I'll be trying super hard to grab any. I just can't deal with some of the frustration and I'm really trying to be a bit more mindful about my collecting these days. I mean the house isn't gonna grow. LOL

I wonder if they'll look at that mistake in context and adjust the offering next time or decide the pricing tier was the problem. It'll be interesting to see what they do for SDCC.

Really interested to see how this plays out on such a wide scale. It makes sense with their current NFT releases but Im not sure how it will do on a larger scale for all Pops in general
LakerSpartan117 wrote:Just saw this on Twitter and thought it was pretty interesting. Looks like Funko is trying to bring back super limited edition Pop! through Funko Fan Rewards. The drop in interest even for more limited pieces and the added $5 protector on pieces that already cant hold secondary market demand is surely a choice. Guess we'll see how they adjust the tiered rarity/pricing concept

It is the most logical financial sells move. Let’s just hope it becomes this way.

It's so odd seeing them use "FOMO" used in a positive manner as if it's a good thing. When I was first getting into Pops, I've made impulse buys because of FOMO, and have seriously regretted many of them. I know that many companies capitalize on FOMO in hopes to increase sales, but having them pretty much flat out tell us that is an odd strategy in my opinion.

I totally agree with this. There’s a line between knowing people have FOMO and using it to your advantage and then blatantly saying you’re doing it

Agreed. But make it gitd or flocked and I'd probably be interested. Thankful for this forum, because I'd never read about this on my own. Still feel like I'm constantly late to the announcements though.

Right?! I just can't get behind this. Collectors asked for LE, not price gouging![]()
Yeah LE at a regular exclusive price. Hoping they put extra thought into it.
I'm sure it has to with the cost to make a new mold and they are trying to make it more worth since the initiation of a mold has an initial cost to produce.
