How do you collect?

Recently decided to downsize my collection as there are too many lines coming out soon and too many exclusives being released at a fast pace. Going to just nab the ones I really have to have.

How do I collect? Frantically and with less money each month.

Honestly though, I wish I knew. I wish i could stick to just one line but i like too many. I just get what I like. Definitely Marvel and DC, because I love superheroes and villains. But am far from a completist, so I try to only get pieces that I like or just the exclusives. I don't collect unmasked pieces. I have too many deadpools. Also have most of the Disney exclusives, and am picking my way through the regular Disney pieces - only the characters I love, too many to get otherwise. Am cramped for space as it is.

I also have a fair number of Movie and TV pieces - mostly TBBT, Power rangers, supernatural, TMNT, Hobbit, wizard of Oz...and then some miscellaneous pieces that don't fit in anywhere but I got them because they were interesting/were gifts, like headless Ned, gold master chief, snow and heat miser, flocked ralphie.

Oh nearly forgot. Also have most of the Freddy pops but only the characters I liked. And some customs. So a bit of everything.

Just started collecting a week ago, but I already have 7 Pops. All of them are Game of Thrones. I hope to be as close to a completist for GoT as possible. I honestly don't know if I'll branch out. There are some others I really like, and I might just buy other series here and there, but I don't see myself being a completist in any other series because I don't love anything else as much as I love GoT. Unless they came out with a Harry Potter series, that is...

I collect very select series, my main two being Sanrio and TWD. (I love the fact that they're polar opposites.) I like to throw in random favorite releases sometimes; for example, Boo, Sulley and Uglydolls.

I'd love to be a completist, but with all of my separate toy collections, I just don't have space for everything.

My main focus is the Marvel and Disney series cause they are all so cool, but I also branch out into the other series and grab what I like. For example I have the TMNT and TWD pops from the television series but stuff like adventure time and regular show don't really interest me so I wont get them. I kinda like having the series I can be a completionist with and the TV and Movies series where I can pick and choose and just get what I want

So far, in my less than 2 weeks of collecting, I'm starting with my TV and movie viewing interests. I started with 2 TWD. The day they arrived, I ordered 4 more. And I've put in two more orders of 4 each. I hope to eventually be a completist in TWD, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, BBT, and Star Trek (I haven't started this one yet).

I normally choose an exclusive variant and I collect one collection with that exclusive variation, for example:

The Walking Dead - Bloody variants only
DC - Metallic variants only
Marvel - Metallic variants only (Flocked too WAITING MORE!!! Where is the metallic Wolverine or Iron Man???
Game of Thrones - All kind of exclusives only + great regulars like Joffrey.
And I have the complete set of exclusive Big Bang Thoery Star Trek and Metallic Ninja Turtles too and finally other movie characters like Watchmen, Alien, Predator, V for Vendetta, Martian, Gizmo, etc.

Just expecting Ghostbusters exclusives and Dragon Ball exclusives too.
