This is the move. I like the adjustment. It seems like feedback that has been dropped here for years was taken into account and it accommodates both side of their fan base. The ones who want constant product availability and the ones who want limited collectibles to make them.. well… collectible

Excited to see how this plays out. That is one of the things I have missed from Funko.

I do not like the tiered pricing on LE. There has to be a better system.

I am not sure what to think of this. I will see how it goes. It's a big change and the thing I do like, is that it (hopefully) reduces the production on some not so good pops and lines. Let's see how it goes.

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
Funko let the secondary market run wild for years, essentially leaving their profit up for grabs. And I think they’ve watched the NFT redeemables resale numbers closely and see where the values are at for each rarity. I’m not terribly afraid of resellers just doubling price or whatever because frankly I haven’t seen that illustrated in the market the last few years. I think this is probably two tiers too many, but I’m not against Funko making a bit more if we get more numbered products. We’ll see what the balance looks like.

i must've missed the part where folks asked for pops to be 20 times more expensive to make them as rare as they were back when pops were all $10. this is an awful system and i truly hope it fails quickly so Funko can correct course and actually save this company.

I do not like it. Now we have to check the Pop! and the Pop! stack for damages and not only that, but the Pop! also moves around the hard stack! For those who travel, it will add additional weight to your bags!

It’s crazy man. $20 now and the limited counts as high as $50? No thanks

I just feel like they make enough money, why do they have to get a piece of the secondary market too?

I'm all for the low # LE returning as long as they get announced to the general collectors and not just "insiders"

I'm not sure I like the pricing tiers. A big part of the draw for me was everything costing relatively the same amount and rarity came from the pure exclusivity of it; getting them at events and what not. By adding in pricing tiers, it removes the relatively even cost playing field for the pops themselves (although you could argue that the cost of traveling to the events themselves should be factored in).
Rare $15 POP = awesome!
Rare $200 POP = of course it's rare it's 200 bucks
I'm entering "wait and see" mode to see how it shakes out.

Re: Funko Announces New Limited Edition Products for 2025
Is this what people were asking for? For Funko itself to become the flipper? They already take a taste from every Droppp transaction, which could be justified based on the infrastructure needed to run the blockchain, but now they are going to price physicals based on rarity on the front end too? While I accept that costs (design, molding, manufacturing) are higher per piece for a short run, there is no way that justifies these price points. It seems pretty cynical to me, like some board member said, "why should we sell something for $15 that is going to resell for $300 on eBay a few hours later? Let's see how high we can jack these prices up before the system breaks." Oh, and toss them a poorly designed (assuming both ends still come off, I haven't actually bought one of theirs in years) protector to keep them happy.

This is my concern. I definitely understand they are trying to offset the cost of small runs, but I'm not sure how many $100 figures I'm going to buy. I haven't ever bought any that high

Do they make enough money? Maybe, they seem to project more profit from the last year. But part of this is a sales strategy is growing thin with its base (mass production), so they need to make some adjustments to feed that demand. Like I said, I probably would cut a couple of the tiers, but that’s just me.
And I don’t mind eating into the secondary market. It doesn’t eliminate flipping, but it should make it less desirable. People will have to take more risk per piece, and in this current market, it’s a significant risk.

Interesting move to see but makes sense with the feedback that has been provided over the years. Wonder what pop lines will drop with these.

Honestly, the rollout at WonderCon wasn't bad. We had a slot for Saturday morning, missed it and I was able to get in later that day and pick up my Voltron. The look of the new system isn't bad. I actually kind of like it.

its pretty interesting system, I like the focus on LE stuff. Price just is what it is, everything is expensive these days. Le pops have always been a part of funko, this is just the next phase. But what does this mean for the low LE pops i already own??

For a publicly traded company, there's no such thing as "enough money", so I definitely feel like its within Funkos right to capture a little extra on the low LE production counts that has been going crazy in prior years. I don't think they extra cost is that expensive for something that has a stated production count. Like Dbactor said, it's up to the fan/collectors to reject or accept the new pricing but I don't fault Funko for doing this as they need to show profitability/growth to shareholders each year.

I totally agree. The appeal of Funko has always been a good product at a good price, with the thrill of hunting for a gem in the ruff. Or going to a Con with the hopes of getting something rare. Funko now seems to be trying to get part of the resale market money. By doing that they could end up pricing out the secondary market. Especially small businesses (Comic book stores, pop shop's), and therefore lose a big customer base.

I like that they made the more expensive limited pieces come with a hard stack. It would be cool to see what else they could do to plus up the more limited pieces.

Funko will send a price request to make up for the difference in price you have paid over the years. They let me know preliminarily this number and you owe approximately $185k

I'm not a fan of the new system. I thought it was weird that some of the WonderCon booth POPS were higher price like $40 for D&D Iggwilv (2000pc) and $30 for She-Ra (3000pc), but now I know it's testing out the higher prices for lower number counts.
I can't wait to see what will justify the the highest price points, but I'll mainly just watch.

What do Funatics think?
I feel like someone at Funko is on to something depending on how it’s executed. This is something that’s been discussed on this board for years and it appeases both sides of the fan base. People whom want pops that have unlimited availability and stock, they can go head and do so. While people who want more limited items get an opportunity to be great
