There are plenty of good reasons for the Black Order to get precedence. Primarily, they haven’t been made before. All the other characters have appeared in Pop form before, and all the previous characters in this wave are sporting new looks. I mean, I have no interest in the Black Order at all, for me this is money saved, but I understand why they were made.

Sure the heroes have appeared in POP form before, but at the very least they could have included a Falcon common since his one previous figure was a store exclusive. New figures or not, we're talking villains who aren't even classic villains - just some bad guys Hickman threw into New Avengers a couple of years ago. I just don't see why minions no one cares about deserve figures before female and black heroes that people do care about, that's all.

Falcon deserves better than to be a token black character to fill out a wave. I want a Falcon if he comes with a new costume or represents a cool movie moment, not just so he can satisfy the optics of a wave.

New figures or not, we're talking villains who aren't even classic villains - just some bad guys Hickman threw into New Avengers a couple of years ago.

What’s your point? These are movie pops. Prior to “Guardians of the Galaxy”, the Guardians were just a bunch of random, mostly 70s and 80s cosmic characters with varying levels of characters obscurity thrown together for the Annihilation mini-series. The real Guardians were Yondu, Vance Astro, Starkhawk, Charlie-27, Martinex, Nikki, Aleta...

And the majority of the movie crowd cared nothing about that because the first time they saw Groot was on screen and they became fans of him then.

I just don't see why minions no one cares about deserve figures before female and black heroes that people do care about, that's all.

A few things:

1. You are right, there is no reason why there isn't a Falcon or War Machine POP, I can only assume that they'll be in the 2nd wave

2. There are no Wakandan characters made into POPs because they all got POPs for Black or Panther (or probably will in the case of M'Baku and Romanda) and those POPs are still available in most places

3. The only other female Avenger is Scarlet Witch and then there is Nebula and Gamora. I also understand that you may want these characters, but all of them got POPs for their last appearances and their outfits haven't changed. I know I would prefer characters with new looks or outfits to characters that look the same as their previous appearances.

3.5 I'm also not going to lie here, Scarlet WItch is my favorite Avenger and I wish she was getting a new POP

I personally like the Black Order. They seem to play a large part in the film and I think that they look cool. I know I'll be getting Black Dwarf and maybe Proxima and Corvus. I also think you have to remember that a) this is the biggest film ever for the MCU and you should expect multiple waves. b) I wouldn't expect that many new outfits for Avengers 4 and they might also be thinking super far ahead when they aren't making some characters.

Just grabbed Iron Man & Hulkbuster during lunch, they look much better in person than I had hoped for! Stoked to break them open tonight when I get home.

No Dorbz at HT, so just need to track that down tomorrow...

How do you get from 'this character has only been a store exclusive' to 'this character should be a token'?? I'm talking about accessibility - the only MCU Falcon POP was a HT store exclusive. Sure, for us Americans it wasn't too hard to get our hands on him, but a lot of people couldn't get him because he was either unavailable in their countries or way too expensive. Including a common Falcon POP in the first A:IW wave just makes good sense.

The point is we're not talking about compelling villains like Loki, Magneto, or Killmonger. We're talking about second-tier bad guys the vast majority of people don't care about, and these guys even less so since they're basically brand-new characters who lack the fondness readers have for older bad guys like Batroc the Leaper or Rhino.

And it is ridiculous to compare the audience's reaction to GotG's heroes to the Black Order - the whole point of GotG is to make the audience fall in love with the heroes. For the average viewer, the Black Order will mean nothing more than some cool fight scenes or maybe some plot point to move the story along.

I’m all for representation and will argue for it vehemently, but you undermine it with arguments like these.

If pointing out that it is unfair to sideline characters (who happen to be female and/or black) the audience already knows and loves in favor of villains no one - including most comic book readers - really care about is somehow undermining the need for better representation for toys, I would suggest taking a break from the collector world and taking a look at the reactions from the larger fanbase. There is a lot more disappointment out there that people's faves aren't getting new figures than there is excitement that some bad guys are getting POPs for the first time.

Really? Only one here and it still gets a trickle of Dorbz in. Thought IW might be high profile enough to warrant a small stock on them.

Have you seen the movie already? Also, were there people clamoring for a Winter Soldier Batroc Pop?

For the average viewer, the Black Order will mean nothing more than some cool fight scenes or maybe some plot point to move the story along.

Have you seen the movie already? Because from what I was reading before I started avoiding the spoilery stuff is that it is very Thanos-centric. If he’s the primary POV character, wouldn’t it make sense to include his henchman?

If pointing out that it is unfair to sideline characters (who happen to be female and/or black) the audience already knows and loves in favor of villains no one - including most comic book readers - really care about is somehow undermining the need for better representation for toys, I would suggest taking a break from the collector world and taking a look at the reactions from the larger fanbase. See, I thought you were arguing for representation in some admirable, but misguided way, but now it reads like you are using the women and POC excuse to complain that you hate these comic characters and you want to get characters that comic readers like. That’s kinda gross. Until the movie comes out, no one can say who is being sidelined and who is nothing more than a glorified cameo.

As a long-time comic reader myself who prefers more comic versions, I’m not blind to the fact that the MCU versions sell better and that a lot of the comic versions warm shelves. I suggest you take a break from the larger fan base and realize that the majority of the MCU fans have no preconceptions from the comics.

Correct, MCU fans have no preconceptions from the comics. But what they do have is love for Sam and Gamora and Rhodey and Wanda. That is exactly the fanbase I said you need to take a look at because they are really kinda peeved right now that they can't go out and buy new figures of their favorite MCU character because they've been sidelined for a bunch of bad guys. And none of us need to see the movie in order to say they are being sidelined because the toy industry has been sidelining female characters and characters of color in favor of villains for as long as I've been collecting toys. Yes, Funko is much, much better about this than other companies *coughHasbrocough*, but dudebro collectors want villains, so that's what dudebros are going to get.

I did mention in my original post that we'll most likely get all of these characters in a second wave (and while not stated, I am mainly talking about Sam, Rhodey, Wanda, Gamora, and Nebula. I want like a million more Okoye POPs, but with the availability of the Black Panther POPs, it will be understandable if we do not see a new T'Challa or Okoye POP). I just wish the Black Order had been held back until the second wave, in order to make more room for hero characters.

Listen, I completely understand preferring characters to have new or different looks before they get a new POP. As a collector with no more wall space for more baseball bat cases, I normally would agree that it is better for Funko to go with new characters or characters with new looks. But I also spend most of my time around Marvel/MCU fans who aren't toy collectors. For these people, POPs are one of the few chances they have to get toys or merch of their favorite character. They could care less if the characters are wearing the same outfit or not, they just want another Falcon or Gamora. Here, everyone is super excited for the first wave and can't wait to get them. But over on Tumblr and parts of Twitter, people are disappointed and upset that their faves aren't getting a new figure. Personally, I'm disappointed Funko didn't find a better way of balancing out the two groups of fans. And I do want to make it clear that I'm not saying the Black Order shouldn't get POPs at all. I just don't like how they were prioritized over most of the female characters and all of the black characters. Funko wouldn't even needed to hold of all of the Black Order back until wave 2, I would have been okay if they had split the Order up between the waves, if it meant giving us a couple more heroes in this one.

If Falcon and Rhodey amount to nothing more than glorified cameos in a villain-centric film, would you argue that they are being sidelined in favor of the characters that get more screen time? We need to see the movie first to see which characters are a priority. This is a movie that we are repeatedly told will have 76 Marvel characters. A lot of characters will be getting the short shrift.

You're undermining your own argument when you invoke Nebula. Prior to the movies, she was a sort of lame Avengers and Silver Surfer villain whose main claim to fame was stalking Thanos and briefly taking possession of the Infinity Gauntlet. No one was clamoring for a Nebula Pop, especially the disfigured cyborg version, prior to the film.

Sorry if someone covered this, but does anyone know if walmart is going to have an IW display in store? Thinking the thanos exclusive will be relatively easy to snag if so.

Thanks!

Vision looks amazing. I’m very happy it is a Hot Topic exclusive!

Picked up Thanos and Hulkbuster, they're both so awesome! And I was surprised on the weight of Thanos haha, that huge head of his. But I really love the look of Hulkbuster, the shine on him is spectacular

I'm sure they're saving some exclusives/characters for the summer convention pops. Those always have a heavy marvel presence.

So I fought the masses and the battled thru the Popgeekcollectibles website, and it appears I was able to get an order in for the Thor GITD Asia exclusive.

Among numerous website errors, grayed out buttons, no email confirmation, I finally saw my order in my account order info. In fact, due to issues I have two orders. The site claims they will check all orders for any outstanding issues. If they don't cancel one, then I'll be fine. If they do, hopefully one goes thru.

I've read on Facebook of people either not getting thru at all or ending up with multiple charges and orders. Hopefully, the website people get back to everyone with info to whether the orders are in-fact good orders.

Here's hoping it does, for it would make up for the fact that I missed Flocked Geoffrey (TRU) earlier today.

Got Vision, Hulkbuster, Thanos, Proxima, Corvus, and Ebony. Can't wait for Cull Obsidian; I made myself stick only to the Black Order 1. for shelf space, and 2. because I love their designs so much. Corvus Glaive and Hulkbuster may be some of my favorites of the year so far. I'd bet good money we'll be seeing many more characters from IW; Falcon, Bucky, etc, so I'm not too worried about missing characters.

I grabbed Steve and Thor already, and I'll probably grab Peter and the Hulkbuster, but now I'm just waiting for Wave 2. Here's hoping we get an updated Bucky, a better looking Wanda (CW Wanda looked terrible), and a common Falcon.

Also fully armored Thanos since the peanut-headed version doesn't do it for me. Wonder if we'll get an eyepatch Thor as well? Maybe Loki with the Tesseract?

Vision is absolutely amazing! Such an improvement over the original. The colors are a bit off from how he actually looks in the movie, but he still looks amazing. Now I just need a flying Scarlet Witch to go with him!

nice. For some reason the proportion seems to be a bit taller compare to the previous version. Maybe it is the pose.

I remember a few months ago when I said that I would be collecting every Infinity War Pop. I knew there would be a lot of commons and even more exclusives. Due to space constraints, I switched over to the Jurassic Park Pops. Maybe one day, I'll have enough room for the Infinity War Pops.

Definitely! They have so much interesting detail that they could play with - not to mention the multiple arms that would be cool.
