I was able to get a Sike-O-Shriner through the online store while driving to San Diego for Conan/Fundays (I was the passenger in the car). I was then able to trade Sike-O-Shriner to someone in Australia for glow in the dark Baxter Stockman, which I'm really excited about because I collect the TMNT line. Also got Snoke, Tank Trooper and regular Baxter.

I had to resort to ebay for Spider-Man Conan and Daffy Duck. Missed out on Scare Glow (BN cancelled my online order) and am still semi-patiently waiting for a halfway decent deal on Jedi Conan. Otherwise, I had a pretty good collecting month especially when considering Fundays and a couple other trades for grails.

I started with just wanting Stormtrooper and Jedi Conan, but got Flash and White Walker at the tapings. Since SDCC I've added all 2016 versions and Conan's Monster, to go along with the Spider-Man I purchased.

I appreciate all the feedback! Missed the TT lottery so I hope for the NY one, still waiting for a few pieces to arrive.

Awesome. I have the 2016 ones and all but Spidey and Mono (which I will never get) for 2017. I haven't gone back to getting 2015 and am trying hard not to.

Any tricks for getting into the tapings? This is the second year in a row where I didn't even sniff a ticket

I struck out for tickets all 4 days, but my brother got the Thursday 2nd show so I lucked out and went with him. I went to Friday's show after trading s Mono Conan for 2 tickets (got the Mono by pure luck on Thursday, walking by the giveaway by chance at the right time). I know the Mono was probably worth more, but honestly other than it being more limited it was probably my least favorite of the 2016/2017 variants.

I also heard of some people getting a free ticket just by asking people in line to check-in if they had any extras. I'm sure some people had extras due to their friends wanting to do SDCC stuff instead. I might try that next year if I go.

Do you live in San Diego? If you do, the store is always there. That building is actually their offices for a certain department of Funko. Trust me, I have been trying to see if they have software jobs there. If they had software engineering jobs there, I would consider leaving my current job to work for them assuming price is right. It would be awesome to work for a company that makes a great product that I love.

I don't, but I'm just North enough that it's an easy and fun place to visit during non-SDCC days, so that's really good to know that it's there year round! I'll have to add that in to my SD exploration route! And I know what you mean - it has to be a great place to work!

Funko South mostly just does the apparel. I think they may have even been small apparel company and then Funko absorbed them when they wanted to branch out into shirts and whatever else they have now done.

Good to know, and somewhere else to visit next time I'm down there! In between all the visits to restaurants that I didn't make it to during SDCC that were recommended within these boards!

I know that as I saw that on a sign at their door so people don't try and go in thinking its a store. I could always dream that they will have software jobs in San Diego. I unfortunately can't make the move out of San Diego since my wife and I just bought land and are going to be building our dream home.

That sounds amazing! Such a nice area - as reasons to not leave, that's a great one! It'll be a lot of work, but so worth it once it's done! And you never know what the future will hold - maybe someday Funko will have just the job you need, exactly where you need it!

Has funko stated why they didn't do a lottery for the pop up shop? They say the cci prevents them from doing it at the con, but what about when they are running their own show at the pop up shop?

I got in line after 1am every day except Sunday when I got in line at 3am and Sunday is the only day I even got close. I should have known that once the line hit the marina, anyone and their mom could join it which meant your line up time meant nothing.

I don't blame Funko and I don't even blame CCI - what can they do? The line has no place to go but out to the bay and it's not even possible to police that and make sure only people who waited in line all night can join the line.

If they insist on making us line up and down the stairs, they shouldn't loop us out through the scanners. Really loop us around the stairs! And they don't have to let all of us in at once. Let us in in batches - pick a line, draw, and you're out into the hallway leading to where the line for the floor builds up. Then let in the next batch. Or use the 2nd floor to loop the lines - not much goes on there, but we could loop down that way. There's got to be SOME way around this mess that it becomes every year.

grendelscott wrote:Our list was significantly smaller this year (buying a house will do that to you), but we did pretty well overall. I got the Marvin from Hot Topic, which has already arrived in perfect shape. Our only major misses were the Stupor Duck and Bugs/Hyde. We'll probably get another Tigger when they restock, since the nose on ours was poorly done. We didn't luck out like last year and win a Conan, but the only one I really wanted was Mono Conan. We weren't in San Diego to be able to score him anyway. I definitely liked how Funko added the page with the direct links to all the shared exclusives. It's nice to see them make improvements each time.

Agreed, and a huge thank you to Funko for putting the page with direct links up! It saved me a lot of time and effort (though no less stress!), and I even bought one of the shared exclusives that I was on the fence about.

So, I told myself that I wasn't going to do this. I was okay with having all the SDCC funko pops with the shared exclusive sticker. It's fine. It's the same pop.

Then we found a shop that had fairly reasonable prices, and SDCC stickers. CRAP. I was weak. I bought another Tony Stark, Harry Potter & Luna. I'm weak. Do I get credit for resisting the Occamy? I feel like I should.

What!?! Seriously? What kind of person does these things? The con seems to escalate in negative behavior each and every year. I just hope people don't start taking a "fight fire with fire" approach because nothing is worse than negative behaviors becoming pervasive. CCI needs to wake up and look around, offsitea too, need to start making considerations for public safety. Let's be civil, GD it!

That behavior is pure sickening. I heard a 'story' of people rushing and a lady and a baby got trapped. Could simply be wrong place at wrong time, but hearing something like this perhaps that story is in fact true. That just is sad.

It's inexcusable. This is slightly off topic but what happened to CCI's no stroller on the exhibit floor rule? I saw lots of strollers this year. I mean, I understand the need to care for your children, but when they're too young to understand their surroundings it seems a bit unusual to bring them along. CCI does provide a daycare. I suppose some people will do as they please regardless and perhaps they have their reasoning. I just happened to notice a lot of traffic jams with strollers often at the nucleus.

That big line cutting rush on Thursday, actually made the local news here in SD. I gotta give a big thumbs up to Funko, for the quick reaction to the little girl and her family that got pushed out. :freddy3:

Wow, I wonder if that publicity will help pressure CCI to change?

Also, I hadn't heard about Funko helping out a family and a girl that got cut in line, do you think there's a news clip out there of it? That's awesome of them to do that.

Can't seem to find the video. But, here's the news page summary of it.

I was able to get everything from the pop up shop this year. I thought they handled that much better than the booth inside because they ran it themselves and didn't have to go by CCI's rules. By giving out numbers to come back for the next day, it made everything so much easier. There was no camping out for a second night and no worry of anyone cutting the line because we had numbers. Hopefully they will be allowed to do a different system for the booth inside next year.

Well with one email my SDCC went from pretty good to lackluster. I got the dreaded My Geek Box email which wiped out Night King(hurts as I have all the pops) Lincoln as Reaper and Blue Batman. :/

I'm glad I was able to trade for most of the ones I wanted from SDCC. I was able to enjoy other stuff during the convention besides standing in the Funko line. Like other lines.

I got everything I really wanted to get but I almost thought I was gonna go home with nothing because I feel this year the Funko booth was insane lol but besides that I had a blast.

Yea the pop up shop did a awesome job this year and mike Becker came out and brought some pizza too. True story

Tell me about it. I don't like how they change their quantities available day to day.

Yeah. Then on the last day, Nickelodeon was sieved by early access vendors who were "attendees". I also failed horribly trying to get a Mono Conan. My wife got punched in her lower back by some guy trying to beat her to one.

the exhibitors reared their ugly heads again starting Friday when the word was out Nickelodeon had two hot items

I actually bought Funko and got to Nickelodeon on Wednesday, before things got crazy Friday, Saturday and Sunday, some of my friends got in Wed and Thur, but if you didn't have an exhibitor badge to do the switcheroo you were DONE the other three days, and man they were their old ruthless selves, it brought back SDCC to a few years ago when everything was a free for all and vendors got everything. Kind of sucked! On Sunday Hallmark sells to exhibitors, but none were there as they were all fighting for Nickelodeon....lol

sorry, I disagree with you on the pop up shop, one of worst experiences I've ever had at SDCC, and that's saying a lot

I'm still kind of bitter, haven't gotten around to voicing my displeasure, I'll get around to it eventually....lol
