I agree with the Friends pops. I waited to buy these and then had a difficult time trying to buy them all at retail price. I was able to do it but that’s why I’m afraid to wait to buy Pops when they are released

Sam from Trick r Treat was one of the first Pops I owned, didn't expect him to become a grail.

All my common pops are grails to me. The awesome thing about collecting is that grails for some people are different than for others. A grail for me is something that holds special nostalgia or remembrance and not eBay Value. That’s the beauty of collecting. I hardly have any eBay value grails and I’m perfectly happy with that.

I heard Funko might be releasing them in new poses though, so that's good? :)

I think some of the new pops are one time issues based on poor initial sales

Sometimes some pops seem retired as soon as they come out lately

I would have to say the cereal monsters, got them because I use to eat the cereal as a kid. I also remember buying all the early Disney Pops's on clearance at the Disney Store.

outside of the old DC commons, ALL old disney, and simpsons i think my biggest common turned grail was Genie. although i got it when it was already kinda high ($50+?) but barnes and noble restocked from some found stock or something... got two online that day. pretty wild. def got up up up since then. others i can think of off the to of my head are phoenix, darkseid, and god goku or black hair goku that kinda went up as a grail. Kobe was common and then went to a $100 grail but then shot back down after more releases/versions.

To me, it is the ONE pop that your collection would not be complete without, and typically not one that is easily obtained (in keeping with the original idea of 'The Holy Grail').

For me it was the Chase Joker 06, and when i got him I felt like I could stop collecting today and I'd be hap
The reason the definition changed is because shoeheads have been using it in their vernacular for ages and originally, yes, it meant your favorite shoe in your collection that you could never get rid of or the most sought after shoe, or grail, that existed out there that was difficult to obtain.

People nowadays refer to grails as difficult to obtain pops that have gotten expensive over the course of time. It’s not that direct of a translation, but it refers to everything that is “grail-like” now.

Tl;dr: Grails used to mean something different but now they’re for pops that have gotten expensive.

I don’t think the definition has changed. There are simply those in the community using the word incorrectly.

Its surprising to see certain POPs go up in value and always wonder why that is. One would definitely be Deku from HT also Marty McFly on the Hoverboard. I remember he was around 20-25 and now is about 60. It's crazy.

I remember seeing Deku by the bundles at one point but I wasn't into collecting at that time so I passed on it. There have been some pretty notable pops that have passed through my hands. One set that I ended up selling that really did surprise me was the Rupaul Drag Race Pops

I think one of the reasons the boushh Leia unmasked from SDCC went up so much was both the release of TFA and then the death of Carrie Fisher :/ on top of it already being a limited quantity.

Just won one the other day for $71, not happy about the price but I've wanted a Sam for the longest and that was the cheapest I'd probably ever get him.

Who'd have thought Captain Spaulding, my first ever Pop, would turn out to be so valuable?
