Re: Pops addicting?
I love Pops because it's a chance to own a product from a media that I would otherwise never have a chance to get. Case point: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Goonies, Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. The fact I can own a collectable at most points for $10 each is why these are so addicting. Even after hitting 1000+ figures I still have so many more I plan to get to add to my ever growing collection.

900 pops! I would love to have that many - another reason for the addition - I do love those huge walls of pops. One day I'll have enough to build one for myself.

Then I only focused on certain lines. And now I try to set my sights on a single pop at a time (usually something vaulted or hard to find) and just buy some other pop every now and then.
This sounds like me haha

Why all the "investment advice?" If people want to invest in them, so be it. Let's focus on being positive in this thread and not passive aggressive about how someone collects. Good vibes peeps!

LOL...I second that. And with new product lines coming along, it's hard not to find something new to collect.

I try to be somewhat selective on the Pops I purchase and have to limit myself because if I don't I would go broke and get hell from my wife. Ive asked myself why I collect, and truth be told it comes down to a few reasons. Pops are cute looking, and depending on the theme they can take me back to a specific time in my life. Example would be the recent WB and Hana Barbera Scoobys etc which reminds me of all the Saturdays I would have in front of the TV in the mornings. I used to love waking up early in the morning to catch my favorite cartoons. The other reason is that now I can also afford to buy what I want unlike when I was a kid and had to beg mom to buy something for me. Plus I love that my kids are into this also which gives us more reasons to bond.
Funko pops can be dangerous. When I first started out three years ago, I collected everything I am a fan of that looked cool. I have since scaled back and focused on the lines I enjoy most which are Disney, Freddy, and Marvel. I have backed off DC and Star wars because I have multiple versions of the characters I really enjoy.
Like you if I am not careful, I will get hell from my wife. Welcome to the family!!

I can attest to this. You are 100% spot on. At first I was buying everything. Now because of space issues, I have become more selective. Although, I still buy anything Batman...

haha, yeah space is becoming an issue. I've been going to SDCC for the past three years now and last year was the first year that I was able to make it into the Funko booth which really started my collection. This year I was able to get what I wanted from the pop up shop and managed to trade for items from the regular funko booth. LIke you I go for all things Dinsey. Love batman but often go after starwars depending on the character,

I invest in many things, stocks, bonds, et, but when it comes to things like Pops or comics, toys. These are items you collect for fun and because you love and enjoy them. If they turn out to be something of good monetary value in the future...well that's awesome. Pops are awesome and I know that many of them have some good $$$ value, but I would consider this type of investment high risk because at the end of the day Pops are only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I think purchase for the love of it, not for the monetary gains, and if one day they do add great value then you got lucky.
Agree with this 100%. I buy all my Pops because I want them, not for any hope to eventually resell. I'm too attached to them to ever sell them.
haha, I find myself very attached also. I keep debating with myself if I should take them out of a box or leave them alone. I often have to buy two of each so I can actually open one and keep one in the box. I find it weird that Im becoming more and more attached to certain ones.
