This is a nice set up. Do you ever open the larger Pop figures to display? I appears you have a nice mix of Pop figures opened and boxed.

Thanks. I haven't opened the larger Pops yet. I still need to add more shelves for the rest of my Star Wars collection. At that point, I will probably open the Pop Deluxe, Rides, and Movie Moments.

This is most of my regular-sized collection! I don't have any room to display them all so they're all stuck in/on this shelf!

Well the threat of earthquakes is always a looming thought. Luckily everything on top is in pop protectors and everything in the shelf is pretty sturdy so it wont be much of an issue. Funny enough, I was just talking to my GF about this. I'm going to start looking into Collectors Insurance.

We are building a wall to make an extra room and create another room to add value to the home. It coincidentally gives me another wall to display. I can’t wait.

HAHA this display is brand new so we will see how it goes. I have other bookshelves in the living room and it has been fine, people who come over know how special they are to us and are respectful.

I have been enjoying looking at everyone's setups.

I have been looking through this board, but does anyone have plans for shelves that can accommodate a lot of Pops in a small space. My current shelving cannot keep up with my collection. I have a space 20'x20' or so and looking for shelf ideas that can accommodate about 3000 pops in that area. I am open to any suggestions :) I was thinking of about front to back shelves that come off the wall and into the center of the room. But if anyone has had any luck
with a design I am eager to speak with them. Thanks in advance!

Spoiler: show
Just keep in mind too that in addition to trying to come up with creative display options, another alternative is rotating the Pops! on display in your collection. Obviously with that option, not all Pops! (etc.) are on display and readily visible at the same time; but it does allow one to have a dynamic and expanded collection in spite of space restrictions. Like many funatics, I absolutely love collecting, but we all know that people with space limitations (or for whatever reason) have collected Pops!/Funko products and been able to let go of parts of their collections when necessary to raise funds in times of need. So I say even if you can't display all the items in your collection (who can, frankly) keep collecting, store until you get an idea of what you want to do, rotate if you can, and liquidate parts when you need to.

Now with all that having been said, I do have at least one space-optimizing display consideration to offer. Like many of you, my collection only continues to get bigger, and I too have been considering different ways to show pieces of my collection. Below are some follow-up pics for one of my "display rooms":

Image

Image

Although the space is coming along nicely, it's not very big and I've still got a bit of work left before it is completed. One will notice that all my Bestas to the right do not have doors on them...and some of the items in those slots will need to be moved around for optimal display and effect. All of this (of course) can get quite expensive, but the end result (I think) warrants the time, money, frustration, patience that many of us put in. And of course, all this while trying to stay on top of ongoing Pop/Funko offerings...to say the least, we have to pace ourselves and go after what is most important to us at any given time.

The big area of interest (and my suggestion) is on the left part of the room:

Image

Image

Anything at all can function as a "display box". Part of the left wall contains jewelry boxes that I found on sale at Target (the white boxes with Funko Spidermen and Black Widow in them). These actually were kind of expensive (because they came in sets of 3 different boxes, and I only needed one from each set (so that's pretty expensive and inefficient); but them being on sale made it easier for me to swallow; I just found uses for the other boxes that I had left over from the sets. The point is that if you can find something similar and that is relatively inexpensive, even jewelry boxes (or whatever) with big enough slots could serve as Funko Pop! or displays for whatever. I think these look pretty nice. I went ahead with them in part because I felt that if one considers the time/effort/finances/know-how that would be involved in making something similar, I didn't think I would be saving much (if anything). These lay as flush and close to the wall as I could imagine and still feel safe that my Pops! are secure and won't fall off. Even if they did, I have a piece of cushioned furniture underneath anyway. The boxes and the Pops! themselves--even all together--are very light weight; this figures well for the hanging mechanism that I employed (which I think is good because it doesn't involve any hooks/screws/nails/or hammers at all):

Image

Image

Many of you are probably familiar with 3M Command item-hanging products. These are the combo Velcro-sticky applicators that result in minimum (if any) damage to walls at all. Basically what you do is fold the sets of applicators onto themselves, stick one side to the back of whatever box or frame you're hanging, get all of them that you want into place, peel the remaining exposed sides that will be stuck to the wall, hold firmly into place for about 30 seconds, and then you're done. It's that simple. These things work really great (I've used them even inside of display cabinets that I didn't want to damage the wood); and honestly, this is about as easy as it gets to hang something that looks nice, you don't have to measure, and doesn't need a lot of fuss. Depending on the weight of your item, you apply enough sticky applicators to make sure your box/frame/item stays up. Obviously you don't want to try hanging things that are too heavy; but for light to moderate-weight items this product is simply great! You can get them (I would think) from most any hardware store (mine came from Home Depot). They come in a light or dark color--but who cares, as they're going to be hidden behind your item and against the wall anyway. Also, this display option and product is relatively inexpensive.

Hopefully, this suggestion might prove useful to you or others. Other than flush niches, I can't imagine anything more space-conserving than something like this, and I think this would work well for any size room...and even small slots. You could create displays at virtually any height.

Of course, I know that some items might not fit into a "jewelry box", so then you have to get a little versatile and creative. The Venompool arrangement that I have on that wall, for instance, is too big and wide for one of those jewelry box openings; so I simply got an old shadow box I had laying around, painted it black, and put together a Deadpool-Venom/Venompool set-up. Originally (by the way), I was going to hang a bunch of jewelry boxes together in columns rows (I might still do this elsewhere)--but I decided against it here and went with mixing up the display items instead. The bottom line is that these and other pics and suggestions throughout this thread will hopefully help those interested in using what works best for them, and coming up with their own display ideas that they might share with the rest of us. Believe me, we're all looking for new and different creative ways to display these ever-larger growing collections that we feel reflects who we are, our preferences, and experiences.

(Oops--I forgot to post a more close-up pic of the Venompool shadowbox when I 1st posted; here it is now):
Image

For me, this is another part of the real fun of collecting Funko products--figuring out how to display my collection. Cost restrictions are not always bad; they force us to come up with new, creative and innovative, and practical ideas. And then once things are done, sharing and conversing with others about yours and their collections is a wonderful social outlet. I think that was "Carol" (hope I'm right) in the "Making Fun" video that said something to the effect that this hobby "makes me happy". I know that's how I feel. So I keep collecting. I'll figure out the displays eventually.

I hope something in here helps you with your future display considerations, Tonchap...and maybe others too. I think you could get a good number of jewelry box-like depth displays in that 20x20 space you mentioned. At any rate, keep having fun, my friend. Happy collecting everyone!

Amazing collection and thank you for sharing your tips! The more I collect the less space I have for display and I was thinking what to do especially for clean look. I do move around pops, but I didn't think about rotation system...! But my question is, where do you keep the rest of your pop collection...?

LOL--funny you should mention that lol . I'm cleaning, putting up displays, and storing away boxes and Pops! even as we speak (or write, actually). I use different "systems" for display and storage in attempt to optimize them both. I think someone in the "Spring Cleaning" thread mentioned flattening boxes or stacking them inside themselves (I use these mainly with putting away some shipping and storage boxes that I want to keep, but certainly some OOB Pop! collectors have described flattening their Pop! boxes and storing the inserts separately--which could be good for condensing them into a space or transporting but seems like it would be a headache to keep up with which inserts go where; I'm sure that they must label them). Me personally, other than for traveling I prefer to keep everything intact; so what is important to me (generally speaking) is lightening the loads that I put away as much as possible. This means getting as many things on display as I can. That's where I really try to innovate.

I do have a climate-controlled, leased storage unit (which I would need anyway for my kids' college stuff), and this helps a lot. But even here, my biggest storage problem has to do with the size of some of the boxes for the sculptures I collect as well (some are really big). That actually is my biggest storage issue. I will post some additional pics showing some display and storage ideas and strategies I am currently working on. These won't be finished, but it'll be good to get some other opinions, and maybe some of what I'm doing will help some funatics with ideas.

I appreciate your comment(s). :) :freddy3:

Once again, thanks for your comments--and your question is a very good one. This response is very personal for me, but I thought I'd go ahead and share it with the community.

I do have more display options than some. About 10 years ago, my fiancée and I made plans to build a house--a rather large one where we would display art that we loved or even that we created ourselves, and our various collectibles and mementos. Enter Funko.

I'm not looking for any sympathy here...just giving you all some background to the story.

My fiancée died of misdiagnosed uterine cancer before the house was completed. She never saw it. After that, I realize it now, I went into a bit of depression for about 4 years. I only worked, ate, and slept. It's been 10 years since her untimely demise. The truth is that I am still recovering. My children are adults now; they are generally away in school or doing whatever it is that young people do. I have 3 daughters and one son, the latter of whom is autistic. He is very friendly, highly functional, and a gifted artist. He will always be with me. The house has a number of large rooms. As the kids are generally away, I have a lot of potential to express myself.

One of the very special areas is a garage unit that is attached to the house but has been converted into an additional bedroom. This is the area of the home that I have maintained specifically in the memory of my fiancée. It has her bed in it, with her linens on it. The house has a notable Tuscan flair; so some of the décor is rustic or simple. I recently found these unfinished, unfortunately expensive large planter boxes that I thought might work well as displays. So I modified the divided boxes and then stacked them vertically. I found that I could get 2 to 3 Pops!, protos, and/or boxes into a cubicle, without the space seeming crowded. This is one of the set-ups that is helping me to get a lot of my collection out of storage boxes and off the floor. Getting as many up on display as I can is an important goal for me. Based on the nature of this hobby--sure, some things do have to be put away. Hopefully I can share more on that at a later date. Right now, I am focused heavily on my displays.

I call my fiancée's room the "Princess" or Fairy Tale Room. Here are some pics:

As you will hopefully be able to appreciate, the slots of each cube are large enough that I can often display a common or prototype (out-of-box pieces [OOB] ) with a specialty item or in-box pieces. This way, I can collect and display different versions of a given item that complement one another. Sometimes I will mix non-identical items--like the silly rabbit, dodo, and leprechaun cereal icon combination, or the Wizard of Oz Pops! that you see in the pictures.

These "display boxes" are nothing more than unstained, natural-colored wood that I chose to go ahead and buy because I didn't want to spend the time or effort to do the work. There are some others in the house that I am experimenting painting or staining. The point here is that anyone with reasonable carpentry skills could probably do these at a fraction of the cost of what I paid for them. They are not fancy at all. Here is a pic of a single planter box that I am toying with elsewhere.

Image

I have more pics, suggestions, examples from my collection on the way. This area and pics was what I had readily available. There are about 180 Pops! and boxes on that display so far--and since all the spaces are not filled and some are singlet, I guestimate that when I'm finished well over 200 items will be displayed (I counted boxes with 2 or 3 Pops! in them as "1 Pop!"). I don't think the area looks too busy. There is another horizontally positioned series of 3 planters/displays under the window in the 1st picture (the light coming thru the window makes these hard to see). That area, I suppose, will contain another 100-plus Pops! I think it is possible to display Pops! in such a way that they don't necessarily take over the entire room--but regardless of how we choose to display, optimizing our spaces will take some creativity and imagination.

Then again, sometimes we do just have to make hard choices on which items and how many we can collect. I didn't know I was going to get this much into this when I started. Still, I'm glad that I went ahead and just collected what I liked at the time; doing so has allowed me to complement this room that means so much to me. That's what I meant in earlier comments when I said the house means a lot to me. I think the room is tastefully done in memory of my fiancée, and I can't imagine going back and trying to collect a lot of these. I'm getting a lot of this stuff out of storage and putting it out, which I think is a sign that I am moving on. But this one area of the house, I have chosen to preserve...this fairy tale.

Long post and story (yet again), but I hope it encourages some funatics and possibly gives some additional ideas. Collecting is a labor of love for me.

More pics and rooms coming up in the future. Thanks for "listening".

The display is great, especially the Batman collection! Sheldon looks a little out of place, but at least the one has a batman shirt on. You need to get the NYCC Black Chrome Batman for sure!

It looks like to have another wall of pops in the back room??? what's back there?

It's Sailor Moon lol

That's one of the girls' rooms (they actually haven't seen what I've done yet--they're away in school; won't they be surprised).

I remember all that pirouetting and drama on the show when my girls were little. Like so many other families we would sit and watch the episodes together. I think it's kind of funny that Sailor Moon is situated practically next to Batman. I'm working on the rest of my DC characters section elsewhere. It sucks a little that my other DC/Justice League characters are separated from Batman but the spaces work out better this way (I think). I am debating and may move the Batmans closer to the other DC characters. After I straighten my daughters room I'll put pics up of the Sailor Moon set-up in a day or two (I made a mess looking for a statue box).

Those shelves in the background are a different color yet again (another one of my experiments  ). Also some gaming and Legends of Tomorrow Pops! are part of my daughter's room set-up. I'm not really a gamer but I know my girls play some of the stuff I've put in her room display. My brother teases them and calls them heartless mercenaries--which is actually quite funny because they're so friendly and small.

I agree completely about Sheldon. I just don't have a designated space for him yet. Good eyes on the Batman shirt he's wearing.

Made a string of my recent posts on this thread to tie the conversational exchanges and flow together more easily. Here is my daughter's room--with the shelves that were pictured behind the Batman display pics that I put up recently. My two oldest girls came home today from college (for Mother's Day). They didn't tell me they were coming, so it was a surprise. It was a surprise too when my 2nd daughter saw the new Funko display in her room (Whew! I got it straightened and organized just in time! ;-) ). This is what the room looks like from several different angles:

At first, I had intended for this particular display to go into the "Fairy Tale Room". I liked the color that I chose for the stands; but I didn't like it better than the natural wood look for that room. Fortunately, this color complemented the color scheme of my second oldest daughter's room very well, I think.

When I started putting Pops! in the case, Sailor Moon was the most dominant theme. I just completed re-doing it last night. Now there are few other notable mentionables that my girls loved as they were growing up: Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts, Fairy Tail, Legends of Tomorrow, and Assassins Creed.

Well, that's another section/room that I seem to have gotten the basic pieces set into place. My daughter seems happy with it. Step-by-step, I am getting my rooms done; practically all of the fun/leisure areas will have some Funko influence somewhere in them. The re-do has been going slowly, but I'm getting it done step-by-step, and they are looking more-or-less the way I've imagined them in my mind. I really hope you funatics like the pics too. More to come as I make progress.

Bye for now :freddy3:

(Oops! Came back and added an addendum the next day after-the-fact. Upon review, I see that I forgot to put the close up pic of the Harry Potter part of the display in the line-up of shots. Here is that pic):

I'm currently working on a HUGE Freddy Funko and Spastik Plastik display. I'm really excited for this one as these are two of my favorite lines! Then I'll work on my Horror and Nightmare Before Christmas displays. Looking forward to sharing with everyone. So many members have given me so many ideas! I love our community!
