do any of the old timers go to the SDCC Funko event?

Postby icemanfan44 » Sun Jun 14, 2026 3:56 pm

Been a long time since I have made the Fun-days event. Do you see any of the old board members there? I am missing old friends and wonder if they are still involved just outside of the board or has everyone moved on?

I’m an old timer, but that’s more because of my age :D :roflmao:

Yep - I believe a lot of the old timers are still attending.

You will see most of them working the booth (Kroffty, Rev and all) - but will still see a lot of OG Funatics in Fundays such as Sprouse, hope they log-in here soon and chime in!

I believe Old Timers refer to those that were pre-2010. The period from 2003-2010 refer to this (Funatics website). Those who were involved in the early days of Funko and went to Sparkys (Universal Studios) for fun gatherings is an example of the time period when Funko was getting off the ground. There will probably be some of those long-time Funko giants at Fundays. I met some at the Funko Making Fun film in Hollywood. If I am wrong on any of this I stand corrected in advance. Much respect to the original Funko Pioneers.

yep, it was a special time. Brian and Mike were very involved and visible. The board was very intimate back then. FUN was everywhere and rares were not that expensive.

I don't know if I count as an old-timer but I definitely see people I recognize year over year! I think it helps that they still allot some of the tickets to the boards :)

Sadly, the only old timer I knew, passed away. It's weird for me because I am here and I am active when I can be, but have only been to 3 fundays. The tickets have always elluded me. So, when I go, I see a few familiar faces that I have met over the years but I generally feel like an outsider. LOL I am excited that I get to go this year and hope to see at least a few people I have met in the past.

Oh, I've been collecting since 2009 (back in the bobblehead days) but I didn't join here until like 2018.

Not an old timer but it’s so hard to get tickets to anything at sdcc anymore.
