I've seen a few pre-production samples for sale over the years. Often manufacturers will have a sample of a bag made to make sure that it looks the way they want, is functional, and that it's overall cohesive. From there they might slightly tweak it so buying a pre-pro sample might get you a slightly one off bag, or sometimes not. I do love buying samples from brands though just because they are all very unique.
