It don't mean a thing if it ain't got a spring. Come inside and chat about Funko Wacky Wobblers (bobble heads, for the less sophisticated).

Funko collector or Bobble Head collector

Postby rgr61375 » Thu Jul 10, 2003 9:09 pm

So, in the article mentioned in a different thread Uncle Dave mentions he will be branching out beyond Wacky Wobblers. Do you collect Funko or do you collect Bobbleheads? I'm a Funko man, I'll collect whatever I can get from Funko. The website and the fanclub kit sold me over. The character selection is a big factor. Same reason I collect Pez. Only the classic childhood stuff no mighty morphin power rangers or Jimmy Neutron or Tiger Woods only good old kiddie fun. What do you guys and gals think?
John: Don't you just love the graphics on this box?
Homer: No. How can you love a box, or a toy or graphics? You're a grown man.
John: It's camp!

wobblers & wisecrackers don't know about the Handy Dandy's yet. Haven't seen they in the stores here.

Being a new collector- my first Funko love will probably always be Wobblers. I'm also very into consistency and there are so many characters that I want to have created for us and added to my Wobbler collection. That's where I have to honestly say that I hope the creative energy stays, in the Wobblers. As long as the character becomes a Wobbler first, I don't care what form it comes out in after that- and I may want to collect that too.

As far as Funko being at the top of their game; they are and will probably stay there. I have some other bobbers/nodders but to me Funko has the best quality. The Bosley that I have isn't as good as a Funko and the Headknocker that I have is...too heavy. Funko Wobblers are just right and I just hope that they keep up the momentum and keep making these born-classic Wobblers. The character base is almost without limit.
Cain't you see I'm busy? Now GEEEEIT!!!!

well...you're right on Funko...out of all the bobble head companie's they certainly are the only one's that "get it". on the handy dandy's...i dunno if they're in stores but they are of course available online...i wasn't sure at first either but i was pleasantly surprised...they're cooler than you might think!

I mainly stick to Funko, but I've got some NECA, Forever.. , and other random pieces thanks to several on the boards. I'd like to see a Handy Dandy in person before I think about buying one. The banks are cool, but I have no room for puppets right now.

Paul, it was nice to meet you too.

Someone mentioned NECA Head Knockers, they are too detailed for me, and the characters are sometimes odd choices.

Bobbleheads should not be overly detailed statues. they should be attractive simple charactures of fun characters, Like FUNKO products.

When action figure collecting became big back in the mid 90's or so when McFarlene got in the game, the figures got so detailed and well sculpted the lost there play value. I long for the days of the simple stuff, like my old kenner star wars figures, the ones from the 70's and 80's

I wager I'm not alone, look at the popularity of the Lego/Kubrik/Mini Mates figures, and of course Funko Wacky Wobblers

I'll stop now, I'm rambling.

Thanks for the input everyone.

Bobbleheads

Postby pppmntpati » Sat Jul 12, 2003 12:38 am

Funko is my favorite but I really have begun to enjoy bobbleheads. There's some characters out there that I really like that funko is just never going to make. So I buy them even though they aren't Funko.
I love Funko, but I don't like puppets. I hope they stay on the wobbler trail, they are so wonderful at it.

I collect funko for a couple of reasons, they have alot to do with my childhood when I was growing up,I grew up with alot of these characters in a certain kind of way :) ,and the packageing is next to none. The box art is wounderful. But I have to admit I have puchased a couple of neca headknockers, because it's like pppmntpati said there's some that there not going to make....But there are only a few that are worthey
