The first Funko Fundays

Postby mikem » Wed Apr 11, 2012 12:25 am

Since our annual Funday is around the corner I was wondering who on the board attended the first one at Sparkeys? I don't recall who was all there. Only 1 I remember was Nessnodder and legends who aren't on the board anymore. Were you there?

No I don't have pictures. I really liked the irst one. It was simple and fun. We had cereal to eat. All different kinds of cereal to tie in with the cereal wobblers. Less than jake had breakfast with us. Very cool event.

Vegas was the first for me too! (And a bit of trivia: it was held the same night as Siegfried (or Roy) got eaten by his tiger.) I missed the first Fundays at Sparky's by "this" much. I work just down the hill from Sparky's, stopped in all the time, but didn't discover the first Funko board and hear about the event until just a few days after it occurred!

Vegas was my first Funday event too. The Sparky's event was set up very quick and I could not get time off of work to go. It was not a work-friendly event ;-)

Vegas was 2003.
The next Funday (3) was at SDCC 2005, no Funday party @ SDCC 2004.

Since Craig could not pick these bad boys out of a line up they were charged but never convicted with assault. They are wanted on a "failure to appear" warrant so if you see them do not approach. Contact your local authorities and report the sighting. :D

The pair I had now reside in Bo's collection. They are size ten. Like Carol said , the majority I have seen were size 8 and 9.
Carol I just wish there was a photo of that somewhere. The story is so funny it has added much to the Freddy Flyer mystique.

That was the 2005 fundays...it was when i first met my best boy pal Craig at comic con and we sat together at fundays...they started tossing out protos & stuff across the room (don't recommend this practice) and when Mike Becker threw those freddy flyers, they hit Craig in the head, grazed me and whoever was sitting in back of me picked them up and handed them to me...think my glasses fell off ! It was also the year where Brian was introduced by Mike as the new funko owner...sad time for we Becker lovers...they showed a vhs tape of Mike's Funko experience...some of us got to buy (?) this tape, believe i have one. As much as i like Brian, i've always had a soft spot for Mike.

I don't even remember how I heard about it but I didn't know to sign up for it or anything so I just showed up at the sparky's store just in time for the unveiling of Mike Becker in the wobbler window. So technically I was there but I didn't get any exclusives nor was I involved in the breakfast they had. So I was like half there.
