Games or Greed ??
Funny how I played the "well maybe game" with Stuart Pigeon for 3 month back in Jan. for that Mini Gold LTJ. Then it was shopped on Wobble World. Now its on Ebay with private Bidders. Only 18 hours left, $610, RESERVE NOT MET. People this guy is playing all us Fanatics. For someone who wants to sell something, this thing is having the hardest time leaving Stuarts or Martins hands, who ever he claims to be this "selling" time"

Capitalism - Let it Live!
Unfortunately, economics and the law of supply and demand is what drives the cost of any Wobber to be more than what it would or should be. But who is it to say what it should cost? If collectors such as ourselves would not pay the exorbitant price tags placed on these items the market would be on the norm for the most part. We're starting to see prices come down, or I least I have in the recent past. Why? I don't really know or care. I only buy what I can afford. I, too, would like to pay normal retail for all my Wobblers, but we all know that's is not going to happen anytime soon. Let's face it, some folks are just in it for the business. Funko itself needs to turn somewhat of a profit just to stay in business as well. That is the bottom line. And let's hope that their bottom line meets expectations or we'll soon be addicts without a fix.
If this guy (whoever he is) lands himself the price he wants for his "rare" LTJ Gold. Good for him! He did not create the market on his own and he won't be the last to take advantage of it. And obviously, there are folks out their willing to pay in the extreme based on the bids he already has received.
In the past, I've never paid more than $80 for any one Wobbler. Some may consider this range to be excessive--specifically my wife (LOL). However, I don't expect that I ever will pay more than this for any wobbler in the future. This is not an excuse. That's just the way I am. On the other hand, there are those who need to have it and the cost doesn't seem to be a factor in the want.
This is good old capitalism at work. Fustrating, yes indeed! But it looks like its the only game in town.
Just my 2 cents!--

Thank you for your very informative lecture on Supply and Demand Adam Smith I mean Stink Ray where can I find the marginal utility or degree of inelasticity.
DON'T get p*** or defensive I'm only playing with ya !
My point was not the price as much as the fact that I was jerked around for a long time with this guy then it appeared on the WW Board now its on Ebay and I was venting paying for all my long distance phone bills to this guy. THAT was my point NOT the fact of him actually getting such crazy offers.
Oh and thanks for the 2 Cents
So Endeth the Lesseon !

Hey FizzHead!
Being somewhat of a business type I understand your point. After so many "free" lunches, meetings, brown-nosing and the like, many a deal has fallen through. The feeling is the same. You are in control of your chain, if it's being yanked, cut it loose and live happily ever after!
Enjoy!

As a business sorta person myself...
I prefer cooperation as opposed to competition when possible. Capitalism is obviously flawed from the humanist perspective and the division on the internet is easy to see. Most of us are here as a collective - and when people come along and don't fit into that role - those that do will gladly run 'em outta town. Don't get me wrong I think Capitalism works fairly well...I just struggle with it at night, at home and sitting in my wobbler room.

stingray67
Here's something simple
Place yourself in the role of a capitalist living in a democracy... think about all you have and don't have (and I mean everything!)...Now make yourself a socialist or a communist and see whether you sleep better while you ponder about it in a room without Wobblers.
Flawed from a humanistic point can be said of all three. We see this everyday in our lives and especially in the media. The division reaches all parts of our society and the rest of the world. The "perfect system is yet to be had and probably never will be. So the ultimate choice comes down to where you want to be and what you want to do. Most, if not all of us, have been blessed to be in a position to make that decision either by birth or personal choice. And from the looks of it, the most common thread (besides being Funko Funatics) is that we are all enjoying the benefits of capitalism. Albeit, some of us to a greater degree than others.
Cooperation vs. Competition. One without the other would probably make this world the most boring planet in the universe. Forget about first contact! Intelligent life forms will probably use earth as a rest stop on their way to finding a better place to stay.
As usual, just my 2 cents

Well Physed, you should be happy... your "friend" Stuart didn't sell his gold LTJ. It seems that the reserve wasn't meet... at a final bid of $610!
That's a lot of money to turn down...
To answer your original question, "Games or Greed?" It seems like a little of both, but this time Stuart lost the game and the cash!

without going into tons of dialogue i understand capitalism...i understand how fortunate i've been (lucky in fact - that's why patritotism confuses me)...yes i've been LUCKY, BLESSED and all that jazz to be born within this system and out of all the places in the world born and raised in San Diego California. WHAT LUCK!
anyway...i do believe capitalism is probably as good as it gets...without going into the obvious loop-holes - if you don't see those - you're obviojusly blessed too!
as far as this dude...nah - i don't buy it...if he's acting like a punk make sure everybody knows it - which of course is an integral part of capitalism right? so carry on physed...provide the information...rail on him if you have to...make people aware...adversely effect the price of this wobbler. it's all capitalism...carry-on!

Keep on Truckin' FizzHead
You're right to rail on this dude has nothing to do with capitalism. Capitalism is a matter of dollars and cents. It is a right given to you under democracy--freedom and human rights. A right secured for all of us by individuals LESS CONFUSED ABOUT PATRIOTISM. Many of whom paid the ultimate price to secure the rights of all. The right to sell or not to sell, the right to buy or not to buy, is guaranteed to all of us no matter what the motivation. Your right to expose this dude for what he is is also a right guaranteed and we all appreciate your effort. Perhaps the announcement to the relatively small audience of this forum could be enough to adversely affect this person's motivations--let's wait and see. From the looks of it he has a long way to go down before that can actually happen.

My response to this post was not about good ole capitalism, cuz we need that in America. It was the way he jerked Physed around on the board. I saw his original post on wobble world and I thought it was very immature and crappy of him to jerk Physed around like that.

Pigeon meat !!
Thank you Kevin I really appreciate that !
That was my point I felt worked, like this guy shopped me, then under a different name the WW Board, then Ebay by having a private name withheld auction. To be totally honest I found the phone numbers of like 3 of the winners and spoke to them. This guy Stuart lead me on from Jan., even giving me his work phone # & telling me I was the first to call him and he was considering my offer of $550, yes $550, but he wanted to see if he could keep his rights to see LTJ for Life. Next thing I know, its on the WW Board under a different name innocently questioning "What should I do with this?' I have no problem with Capitalism, Supply and Demand and even simple arithmatic (as long as I can carry the ones) well before Prof. STINKray so eloquently explained the concepts. What I do have a problem with is being Jerked around. As I said to Martin, Stuart Pigeon Droppings or who ever Just be #$^&*%^ Honest !
Again business is business, I have bought rare wobblers WAY above the "selling" price( My own Business and Decision) but well worth it to me from TWK Mike P, Scooter, Ron, Wild Bill and more than happy to give them my business. They are all honest, above Board, reputable dealers who play by the rules and are a pleasure to deal with. It is a personal decision to pay more for something if you want it and its in limited supply (duh, obvious) but don't lead me on and use me as a scale to base where something should be priced. When all is said and done this guy could have saved us all alot of aggravation if he sold it to me for the $550 in Jan. instead of maybe selling it off Ebayafter the auction is done (Pure Speculation) to who ever bid the $610. Was all his Bullsh** worth it for $60 and revealing your true lack of integrity.
All I can say is a pigeon in the hand is worth 2 in the trash !

If Business is Business
I quote you" Business is Business" this situation isn't any different. Now if you're looking for shoulders to cry on..I think you've found enough! Including mine.
BTW, TWK has been lax in his shipping. Regardless of personal or other problems, "business is business" and one should not interfere with the other. Am still waiting for an order that should have been in my hands several days ago. Now am in a back and forth email novel. If Riot thinks you can rant, wait for mine! Am sure many of you would come to TWK's defense but again business is business and his reputation is on the line..at least with me.
Later Fizzy!

I really would love to take you up on that but ...um..er...well your shirt needs a washing and I think some underarm deodorent might also help if you want me on your shoulder.
Other than that it sounds like a pretty good offer. Thank you

TWK
I heard TWK been slipping, late with shipping and people not getting minty mint TWK boxes. Very unlike him....
I do think if he's running behind on shipping he should stop running his auctions on ebay for a bit and catch up.

i had the same problem recently with TWK's shipping, but he was upfront with me and when i finally did recive my package (2 days ago) he threw in some little extras and he apologized for the long delay.
I plan on buying from him again in the future. He may have been a bit later than normal, but he still knows how to take care of his clients!

WHAT?
stingray? What are you talking about? Bashing (or praising) a seller is an integral part of capitalism isn't it?
-
stingray67
Let me clarify for ya!
The fact that we have the RIGHT to bash or praise is more to the tune I was singing. As far as I know (and I am by no means an expert on the topic), this right is not guaranteed under any doctrine of capitalism. It has to do more with rights granted us via democracy. Specifically our right to free speech.
Integral, yes it is!. A prime example of this we see in the stock market where just rumors and speculation is enough to set off the market in an up or down roar. On the other hand, there is enough room in the system for even the worst of all offenders to be part of it. No matter how bad their products, services, or reputations may be, they can still make enough of a profit to stay in the game. I can fill this post with prime examples of this, but I'll leave things as they are for now.
Arividerci for now!

Yes.. you all have the right to whine, complain , or b**** all you want ...
Some of us do it for different reasons though .. maybe so our friends and comrades in collecting don't have to go through the same BS we had too ..
While when others do it .. you can tell it's just self-serving drivle ..

"Nobody likes to be jerked around"--self evident statement! It looks like the "prize" got in the way of the vision.
It would be wise and a perfect world if maybe ppl did pay full attention to the rants, whines, complaints, etc. But it looks like many who done so still went ahead with bids after the fact...OH WELL, again the choice is yours!

Let me just say my comments regarding Stinky, Tuition etc. were just poking fun. If you are not please know us Funatics are a kinder bunch than what it seemed. If Stingray 67 is really Blue hope you got a laugh out of it after all it was meant in total good fun !
