Are all Marvel Pops Bobbleheads?

Postby Anna1718160 » Sat Sep 06, 2014 9:14 pm

All the ones I own and have seen are and though the bobbling is an easy fix (learned the cotton ball trick from another thread), I was really hoping there's some secret shop where I can get Marvel Vinyl figures.

I really hate bobble-heads. My Rocket is looking to the left and Star-Lord to the right. I tried the cotton ball thing and it didn't work. I'll buy Dancing Groot but for the most part I'm avoiding Marvel Pops which makes me sad because I love Marvel.

Never understood why most people are worried about adjusting the spring. I only ever have to slightly bend it to straighten out a head. Spring doesn't even look like it's bent afterwords. They're not so delicate as to be ruined from slight adjustments.

I ruined my agent coulson trying to fix him. I despise bobbles. I have a few and will get only the ones I really want.

I believe Funko's licensing agreement with Marvel is limited to just bobbleheads, which is why the Logan that was mistakenly produced as a vinyl figure was pulled so quickly. Until that changes all Marvel pops will be bobbles.

I have no problem with bobbles, but my Rocket is looking down and even with an attempt to fix the spring AND try the cottonball thing he's still looking down a bit. Kind of frustrating, but overall I have no issues with bobbles at all.

I used to dislike the bobbleheads but my love for Marvel out weighs my hatred for them. Over time it's grown on me though.

Maybe one day the license for non bobbleheads will get to Funko. One day...

I'm always afraid that I'll just draw my bobble and his head will fall off.

I am not a fan of the bobble head either. I'm always worried when I am unboxing that the body will pop off. Some are ok as bobble heads but I prefer the normal non bobbling ones. They are easier and I feel safer lol.

I avoided getting the Marvel collection for a long time because I hate the bobbleheads, but my love for the MCU eventually outweighed it. I've had some success straightening out the heads, though a few now look in weird directions. Gonna play with them in the next couple days, luckily my roommate has a hot glue gun if I accidentally bust one.

I don't have a single bobble head that isn't messed up in some way. They're the worst. But what are you gonna do? Not buy them?

I prefer solid figures, but at least Marvel is consistent. It would really annoy me if half my figures were bobble and half solid.
Too soon?

Adjusting a character looking to the left or the right is pretty easy and requires a little twist. Takes practice to get the hang of it. Trying to bend the spring can be done, but you might end up doing more harm than good. It, too, takes practice.

As for breaking one taking it out of the packaging...you have to apply some major force to separate the head from the body with a bobbler. If you break one out of the packaging you're pulling to hard on your Pop. Stop! You'll go blind!

Is it the fear of the spring that keeps so many of you Poppies from diving into wobblers?

Just my 2 cents BUT a shot from a caulking gun, will change every bobblehead to a fixed figure in about 24 hours :)

At first i hated the bobbleheads but then i kinda started liking boping the head and making it bobble... lol i only have a Starlord and Groot out of the Marvel. I find it amusing to see Starlords head bobble around =P, overall I am fine with them being bobbleheads.

Surprised no one has mentioned WHY this is the case.

Before pops there was a line Hasbro did called Mighty Muggs, I myself have about 30 of these guys. Two of their main lines were Marvel and Star Wars. Because of this they have a deal to be the exclusive vinyl figure maker for Marvel and Star Wars, so in order for Funko to get around that they decided to make the line bobble heads.

The line never sold really well, the design was clunky and kind of ugly, especially compared to Pops. But Hasbro still puts one out as an exclusive every once in a while, and has some minis too, so they still have these licenses.

Good info...I don't think many people knew the why part, I sure didn't. So essentially, it's the same reason we'll never see an Avengers/X-men crossover movie: one company puts out just enough product to retain the rights, regardless of whether or not the product is actually any good.

I unboxed about 10 or so Star Wars and Marvel Pops this weekend, and used cotton balls on all of them. Each required 8-10 (depending on the size of the head), and afterwards, some of the heads still move a bit, but the spring is significantly dampened, so that works for me.

I also had to reach up and inside the head, before putting the cotton in there, to grab the bottom of the spring where it sits on that post, and rotate its position slightly one way or another to make the head look straight forward. That's pretty easy to do.

As far as correcting an upward or downward tilt, I think the cotton balls fix that too (in addition to the springiness). If the head is looking too far down for your taste, more cotton between the inside back surface of the head and the back side of the spring will push the head away from the backside of the spring, which will pull the head to closer to the front part of the spring, causing the entire head to lean backward, and so cause it to look up a bit more.

I still need to find a way to deactivate the spring entirely on the R2-D2 pop, since it causes R2 to sit too tall on the legs, and to me it doesn't look right at all next to the C-3PO pop. No way to reach in there you can with the others. Might have to just go in the leg opening somehow and cut the spring.

When I got my Thor 2: Loki, I wasn't impressed at all. Also his paint job is not the greatest. Although he's really grown one me, I'd hesitate in getting Thor.

They still make Muggs? Really? I thought they had quit after the minis in 2012.
