But with out all the blabber the question is,
Does your alls comic stores get in good shipments every new Pop release or do they get certain ones later?
TulaBug wrote:Jonathan, I think all shops are different. It depends on how much Funko they sell.

Kevjo wrote:Yepper, it really is down to how much they sell to customers - if its deemed as a hot subject and also how fast they get rid of stock versus getting it in.
Comic Stores are probably more open to personal requests though, so you should corner them and ask for certain lines if you'd really want them. Big stores would just laugh, but the little ones really do care at times.

There's some we don't carry, generally because we don't think it'd sell well for us (Duck Dynasty isn't all that popular in Seattle for example) There's a matter of space. A store can only dedicate lots of room to a product if it's "earning" the space. To devote a lot of space to a product it has to sell well. Retailers buy the products in order to sell them and if it doesn't sell they loose money. As far as when they get them it depends on when they order them. Suppliers don't just automatically send stuff. The retailers have to go through the catalog. And sometimes things get delayed and back ordered which generally means the supplier is out. For example the Batmobile ride has been out for a while. My store placed a preorder meaning we ordered it months in advance. Sadly so did everyone else. Places that ordered more like B&N and Hot Topic got theirs first because they order thousands (they basically order for the all their stores at the same time and then the stores get stuff from their own headquarters) We had to wait several months until Funko had more made in order to fulfill our order. There are some comic stores in particular who don't have accounts to order directly from Funko either. Diamond (or Previews (PX) as it says on their exclusives) who is the comic supplier for comic stores everywhere in the country will purchase items from Funko and then some retailers have I order through Diamond instead of Funko directly. That will also delay them because they'd have to wait for Diamond to receive them. So yeah, there's several variables in play as to who will get what pieces and when both on the retailers end and suppliers end.

Glad to helpYeah best thing to do is ask them if the plan on carrying the piece you want and if they have an estimated ship date. And like I sai for my store, if they aren't carrying it and enough people ask they might just change their minds.

99% of the time both selection and price is superior
Funkodelic wrote:You should talk and get to know the people who run the shop, if they know you are interested in certain Pop, they may offer to order it for the next shipment, I have had a couple comic book shops tell me if I don't see it on the shelves they can order it online, but I like hunting.
ohiofunkofan wrote:My local store carries Pops but they are slow on receiving items that have already been out for some time. Because of that, they seem to be overstocked on older items that are not moving. They just recently got Judge Dredd and Planet of the Apes in, before I could even find them at a local Barnes & Noble. They did not order that many though do to the slow moving items they already have. They also just mentioned ordering the Star Trek line which has already been out and available. I think slow ordering might be the problem at my local shop.

Eric, So strange - so they had enough people ask about POPs to justify them MAKING A SIGN saying that they don't carry them but still feel like they won't sell them ?!

I manage a comic shop in Charlotte, NC. Most, if not every single, comic retailer in the U.S. receives their comic and toy shipments from Diamond Distribution. (This is where the Previews Exclusive "PX" POP!s come from, btw) Diamond basically buys from all the toy companies and then wholesales out to comic shops and that's why when we order POP!s they usually take longer to appear in stores, because we have to wait for FUNKO to ship to Diamond and then ship to us. It's not great but it's what we deal with. We also have a FUNKO wholesale account but we have to order a case of 6 of each individual POP! So it limits what I'm willing to gamble on hoping I can sell 6 of the same one, but, we can order singles thru Diamond which means I can order 1 or 2 and have much less risk of sitting on stock. We always are willing to order what we can for any customer that walks in, and I usually don't ask for payment upfront at all (unless it's a $200+ statue or something of that nature) so I can't speak for every comic shop, but we prefer you ask for what you're looking for. We're here to help youplus it'll let's me network and meet other Funatics, which is always a good thing.
Hope that clears some things up.
