Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

That said, I have three!

Can you address The X-Files? You have the license...I've heard Legacy, then no Legacy...but nothing on ReAction...

Any idea if Spaceballs would fly? I can't imagine that it never came up...but something tells me Lucas would kibosh that one.

Finally, any other licenses that you can think of that you possesses already but are off limits for ReAction, that we might ASSUME would be coming, such as Ghostbusters? Just want to try and manage expectations.

My pleasure!

We do have the X-Files license for ReAction, but nothing rolling yet.

Part of the deal made back in the day between Lucas and Mel Brooks was that Brooks had to agree to never allow toys made for Spaceballs. So that will never, ever, ever happen.

Mattel owns the action figure rights to Ghostbusters, and they're never going to give that up.

Thanks for the reply! I know about GB, any other licenses that you have that are in a similar situation? Like SW and Marvel/DC would be obvious ones....but say, Rocky would be a surprise. Does that make sense?

I got ya. Other than the obvious biggies, there's no real major blocks. Maybe Blade Runner, since no one can seem to figure out who owns the rights, therefore no product can be made. And there's been a couple of licensors who just don't get it, so they said no, even though their license would be perfect for ReAction. I can't throw them under the bus by naming them, but trust me, they're out there.

This is a long way off, May of next year in fact, but any chance you guys would come to the Denver Comic Con and maybe do a couple exclusives for us? I know we are a new Con and a little small (85,000 last year) but I think we would be a great spot to launch a new series or just a couple POP!'s or ReAction pieces.
Okay, if you want to add glitter to that glue you're sniffing, that's fine, but don't dump your whackadoo all over us. We'd rather not step in it.

Reis, one that's on a lot of wish lists and at the top of mine is classic Planet of the Apes. I know NECA has their 7" figures out there right now, and they're awesome. But, I want 3-3/4" Apes. What are the chances?

Count me as one of the ones that are very, very, very interested in The Dark Crystal. This line if the difficulty is getting the owner of the original prototypes to sign off, I'd prefer Funko to go back and design these from scratch. The originals have their charm, but I'd prefer a whole new screen accurate take! The 12" Sideshow dolls that I missed out on were awesome and so was NECA's Chamberlain! What has always been painfully absent from my collection is 3 3/4 Gelflings, Skeksis and Mystics. I want a figure of Augra and some Garthim. I gotta have Urskecs,Pod People, LandStriders and Crystal bats! I really, really love that awesome world that was introduced in that great fantasy movie!

I will be one majorly happy monkey, once Reis confirms they are making Planet of the Apes, because that is going to happen, right Reis? ;)
Loads of properties I would love to see tackled in this style, but none even come close to Planet of the Apes!

Is there a chance we'll still see Dutch's team from Predator at some point? I can't be the only kid who's wanted them since 1987. If not, any insight into why? The Spaceballs answer was interesting.

Also put me down as another really wanting Dark Crystal toys; but would love Labrynth even more-so.

That's not really my territory. I don't see us having a booth there (we only do San Diego), but exclusives are not out of the question. Somebody from the con would have to contact one our members of the sales team. Sorry that wasn't much help.

No, we're not worried about the prototypes. We have a few of our own here in the office. But IF we ever did make Dark Crystal toys, we would start from scratch anyway.

That's doubtful. There's some licensing hullabaloo that is blocking that from happening. Well, maybe not "blocking" so much as "making it more difficult than it may be worth".

I know I've asked this question before in various sections of the boards but I've never gotten a firm answer:

What's up with the vampire Spike Reaction figure?

He said it somewhere that the vampire version is the regular release and the human face is a chase or exclusive.

Who can we Dark Crystal fans beg to get these figures made? Just trying to see if we could petition the powers that be to show them that interest is there. I know production of the Dark Crystal sequel has been an on again/off again emotional roller coaster! While we are begging Jim Hension productions, maybe we can ask about Farscape and Labrynth too! Do you think that would in any way help, Reis?

In an old post from March 2013 on Funko's Facebook page, in response to a question about Xena Pop figures, Funko stated that: "Let's just say that one of our designers is a big Xena fan and he hasn't given up yet trying to get her made. Xena fans unite!"

Is there any chance that the Xena: Warrior Princess licence (and the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys licence) will be acquired by Funko to make ReAction action figures?

I'd also be interested in Pop, Bobblehead, Plushies and Legacy versions of Xena and Gabrielle (and many others as well).

We do have the license for T2 and will probably end up doing them eventually. Nothing written in stone, yet, but it's a strong possibility. Not sure about T3 or Salvation. Those are doubtful.
Really happy to hear that! For my blue Mal question, I was asking what he was based on, sorry I worded my question badly.
Oh! Sorry! This is the blue shirt he wears in the shootout scene at the "home for women of negotiable affections". We also gave him Zoe's "mare's leg" Winchester, since that's the kind of rifle he uses in that scene.

Reis, given that Funko now has a relationship with Wizards of the Coast through the Magic license, is there any interest or talk of doing something with Dungeons & Dragons. A 3-3/4" D&D line would be awesome.

OH MY GOD. I wish. I was a massive fan of the cartoon and toyline from LJN in the 80s and have played D&D for years (I have a d20 tattoo, for cryin' out loud). So believe me, I would be the first to jump at the chance of re-imagining Warduke or Drizzt as a ReAction figure. But sadly, that's not on the table, and I don't think it would fly sales-wise if it were. But we can always dream...
