Are you a sticker snob or you don't care?

What is a sticker snob? A sticker snob is someone who chases a specific sticker usually it is a convention sticker. It can be a deal breaker when looking to purchase or trade a pop from someone and some will ask what does it matter. Other than the price because the convention stickers usually have a a higher price point in value than the shared stickers you can get at participating retail stores.


My reason for being a sticker snob is rooted in my early days. I, just like everyone else that started in the hobby, grabbed everything I saw because I thought it was cool. I eventually learned that there are cool pops but I don't have the space to put them. I had to begin looking at thinning down my reasons to add pops to my shelves. I already collect a bunch of different kinds of pops (Freddy's, glows, TMNT, horror, SW, anime), I needed to find a way that allowed me to continue collecting without grabbing everything I see. I don't mind the grind and enjoy making deals with people. It's a great way to meet new people and see what I can get through trades. One way to make it harder for myself was to go after the convention stickers. That would make it harder and prolong my search to get them. Score.

I was, then i took out almost everything from my collection to display it out of box, so i really doesent care anymore, or i care when it really cares, im not paying 20% more for a sticker that is not going to be seen, but i would pay it for a grail or a rare piece that really matters

One step further, I've been hunting down people selling locally that are completely out of box and have snagged a few goodies that way.

And I want all the variants too. But if it isn't affordable (at that moment) I would buy a non interesting sticker Pop, easy.

Yup life is easier when you dont care about boxes/stickers, but it really bothers when you look for the correct sticker that you want, its like making bad karma

I like the sticker and what it stands for as for as you could only get it at the event but with that being said sometimes that just puts it out of my price range especially the older pops

Personally I like getting con stickers if I'm attending the con. I go to SDCC every year so if I don't get lucky with the booth I try to find a reasonable price from someone at the closest lounge area. Other than that I don't normally go for them unless a friend can help out at another convention and I always give them extra for the assist

My first convention exclusive set had one of them come without a sticker randomly. If none of them had stickers, I wouldn't have cared but the implication that I was getting cheated out of something "more exclusive" got me to go back and exchange it for one with a sticker.

As far as ive seen, yes, most of the stickers are placed in the point of sale when they are for cons, no matter wich one is it (SDCC, NYCC, Europe, etc) looks like they come without the special sticker from the factory, maybe is for a better control or to have spare ones

For some yeah but I’ve come to enjoy shared convention pops since the alternative is not getting a chance to own them.

If you wait for the wave/want to die down a bit, usually anywhere between 10-14 days after the convention, the prices of the pops have settled and can be at a more reasonable price. The savings on waiting can be worth it, you just have to be quick when they are being posted on Mercari/Ebay/Whatnot.
