Your ReAction Questions Answered Here!

Let's talk about Funko and Super 7's great line of ReAction and Legacy action figures. They don't bobble or pop, but they thrill in their own fun way.

Those would be sick! :)

Edit- Also, Sweeney Todd? Any chances of any Funko Products, Wobbler? Pops? Reaction?

Mattel owns the rights to 3 3/4" DC action figures for movies, we managed to get the rights to the TV shows. It's sort of a tricky thing, but I don't foresee us doing Batman V Superman.

Unfortunately, Bill and Ted have been cancelled.

Bill & Ted and The X-Files were the lines I was looking forward to the most! Why was B&T cancelled?
On a side note, is there still hope for The X-Files?

It was a contractual issue. X-Files is on hold right now. We're going to try and focus on more vintage lines (pre-90s) for a little while as we restructure ReAction and get back to what it was originally meant to be.

Thanks! I'll keep the hope alive! Seriously, the ReAction line rules. Long live ReAction.

I thought there was mention earlier in this thread that we would hear more about the fate of Game of Thrones Legacy at SDCC. I'm losing hope at this point.

The only Reaction figures left from the ones announced that I don't already own are the Fight Club figures which are scheduled for August. Will there be new figures coming out between September and December? And if so, will we be seeing any new pics soon? Thanks again for all the awesome figures so far.

Good to hear ReAction will be shifting back to a pre-90's focus. I think those properties work best with this aesthetic.

Although strangely enough all of my reaction figures are from 90's properties (T2, Pulp Fiction, Fifth Element).

Properties from the 2000's definitely don't feel as "right" for this format. Of course if by some miracle Farscape were to ever happen I'd completely change my tune. :)

Hopefully you'll continue to sprinkle in properties from the 90's here and there. Especially when the property lends itself to a complete wave and not just one figure. The stand a lone figures are cool but don't really appeal to me personally. I'm looking forward to Fight Club and Breaking Bad and the big part of that appeal is the "complete wave" aspect.

I know you've mentioned TNG, are things still on track for that line? They will look great in my Playmates Bridge playset.

Are Aliens still in the plans? I haven't purchased any figures from Alien but I'll probably buy the entire line of Aliens figures. It's still one of my favorite action movies. I could definitely see two waves worth of figures.

Any plans for Army of Darkness?

Not sure about TNG. We may have to shuffle that around a bit. We're basically taking another look at the long and short lists and making adjustments now that we have a better feel for what collectors seem to want (in other words, "buy"). Sorry, no plans for Army of Darkness.

Hi Reis,
When Funko is choosing licenses what specifically do you look for?
There are a ton which I think would be cool but, admittedly, my toy brain is stuck in the 80's and I hope for action figures of many of my favorite movies and TV shows from that time.
Old shows like The Fall Guy, Magnum PI, Simon & Simon, MacGuyver, Bionic Woman, Knight Rider and Wonder Woman would be a dream come true for me, but I totally get that the demographic of people who buy the product may not recognize many of these and the last thing you want is product sitting on the shelves.
(and I am really sad Planet of the Apes is no longer possible. Although my bank account would have greatly suffered from buying armies of Gorilla Soldiers).

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions Reis. With the sad news about Bill & Ted, POTA, and X-Files I was wondering if you could tell us if any of the other lines announced at 12 days of Christmas have been cancelled, put on hold?

Aliens (really hope not)
Rocky Horror
V for Vendetta
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
E.T.
Big Lebowski
A-Team
Star Trek Next Gen
Dark Crystal
Munsters

What have you been able to determine so far? What do we collectors want to buy?

It would be interesting to see if your numbers are different than what my visits to the store tell me.
What I've noticed is that most "non-human" properties sell really well. Horror, Monsters, Predator, Alien for example.
Properties that consist of all human characters seem to struggle a bit. Firefly, Goonies, BTTF, Karate Kid, Tommowland.

Or does it have something to do with how adult the line is? For instance, Pulp Fiction seems to have done pretty well despite it being all human characters in ordinary outfits.

WooHoo!! Only my heart just broke hearing you no longer have rights for any Planet of the Apes. And since your focus is now on pre-90s properties, does that bump the 1980's V miniseries up the list?

I Keep trying to think of pre-90's properties that would be releveant to a current buying population.
While I think Logan's Run or Space 1999 would be cool, I doubt a lot of people are dying for a Martin Landau figure.
I agree that the monsters and such seem to sell better than the human figures so how about figures like the Morlocks from The Time Machine, the Metaluna Mutant from This Island Earth or even the gorilla with the diving helmet from Robot Monster?

BSG and V are on the long list at the moment. No plans for Buck Rogers or Starship Troopers.

Wow, a series of V figures would be incredible, almost a must to make. The original toy line never got off the ground. Just right up your alley for the vision of the ReAction figures. BTW, LOVE the Jaws line.

Evolve, Skyrim, and Fallout Legacy were all supposed to be out by the end of this month according to the update Reis gave in early May. Funko as a whole has just about the worst communication of any of the action figure manufacturers that are currently producing product. Thank god for Reis or else we wouldn't know anything about the Legacy lines.

However, I was wondering, would you (or any other designers) ever consider starting a thread like this in the Pop forum? I understand that there's a lot more going on with Pops than ReAction, so this may not be feasible, but i just thought I'd ask!

EXCHANGED @ TRU (All good)

I purchased the Bloody Quint Jaws ReAction figure and the character Quint DOES NOT have his machete at all....anywhere!

Image Image
Image

The Box is COMPLETELY sealed and has Never been opened (you'd have to tear these boxes a bit to open them meaning they don't simply open like Funko Pops. Purchased directly from Toys R Us. I looked all around the clear plastic and it's like it was never there. I guarantee i fully inspected the box...it didn't fall off and it's not stuck anywhere. I had 4 other friends inspect it too. There also isn't any visible 'tape' (which is used to keep the machete stuck to Jaws & Quint.) All 4 Toys R Us in my area are sold out.....it's not like i can simply exchange. Sure i can return it....but sheesh.

So.................. is this normal? Thanks.

I didn't honestly expect a full lineup of them to be out at this point. it took well over a year from announcement to shelves for firefly. I just want info on them or pics of them.

I just want to emphasize how amazing it would be to do a full series of Spaceballs characters. I KNOW this was asked here previously and some ancient agreement between Mel Brooks and George Lucas was made...something along the lines of it was fine to release a Star Wars parody as long as there were never any Spaceballs figures released so as not to confuse the consumer. Which seems silly anyway as the Star Wars figures' cards said STAR WARS and Spaceballs figures would have said SPACEBALLS. Regardless, Lucas no longer runs the Star Wars franchise...Disney does! Does any old agreement, even if in writing between Mel Brooks and Lucas still hold water in 2015? Can't Funko reach out to Disney and at least clarify if this restriction can still legally be in place? Would it hurt to just inquire?
I LOVE the Reaction figures. Love the whole concept. I LOVE Spaceballs. There's like, NO Spaceballs merchandise one can collect or display. These figures would be THE perfect fit for the Reaction line and WOULD SELL HUGE, I think! They'd be the figures all Spaceballs fans wished had existed in the 80s but didn't! Please Reis, can a casual inquiry, if not having already done so, simply be made by Funko to Disney or even Lucas asking if Spaceballs figures can be made. There was a Spaceballs cartoon a few years back, so something Spaceballs was given the green light by someone. Does a silly agreement in the late 80s really still have to prevent a line of action figures coming out for the fans nearly 30 years later? And don't forget the Winnebago spaceship! Could even release that as one of those POP vehicles.

I second what MoviePalaceOfBlood says! A perfect fit for ReAction! Old property, tied to the original 3.75 figure concept that SW pretty much launched and the niche market of "older collector" rather than a "confusing toy line to compete with SW in Toys R Us"!

Galoob originally proposed figures for The Last Starfighter.
Any chance these long-lost 80's figures may get the Reaction treatment?

Reis,

I think the re-structure is a good idea, but what does this mean for Aliens? Are they still coming? Are they still on track for Oct-Nov release?

I really hope you can answer this, Aliens was my most anticipated series.

Hi! Thanks for taking time to do this Reis. I read most of the thread and I hope these haven't already been addressed.

I was wondering about The Munsters and Addams Family...will they be color or B&W?

Your comments seem to indicate Leatherface is on his way, any chance of a whole TCSM'74 subset? Leatherface in apron and killing mask, The Hitchhiker, The Cook and Leatherface in pretty lady mask and dinner clothes?

Same with Hannibal Lecter...A Silence Of The Lambs subset with Lecter in blue prison uniform, white escape uniform, Clarice Starling and a Final Showdown Buffalo Bill(definitely NOT a 'Goodbye Horses' Buffalo Bill)

Some other randoms,

Norman Bates, Psycho(1960) in Mother drag?

Inspector Harry Callahan, Dirty Harry(1971)

Popeye(1980) (the Robin Williams movie)

Paul Kersey, Death Wish(1974)

Tim Curry as Pennywise The Clown from the Stephen King's IT

The Phantom from The Town That Dreaded Sundown(1976) Probably a bit too obscure.

About Planet Of The Apes, never say never, right? I mean, things change, so who knows? Keep hope alive?

And I too would very much like to see Conan The Barbarian with Conan, Valeria, Subotai and Thulsa Doom. With variants of their Camouflage Paint and Valeria in her white post death armor. Hey, I can dream.

Oh! And I'm guessing that the 1966 Batman TV show and the Bixby/Ferrigno Hulk are complete nonstarters right? Batman '66 would be perfect in ReAction format. Ah well.

What are the next upcoming figures? Most everything is out now but a couple Fight Club figures.
Okay, if you want to add glitter to that glue you're sniffing, that's fine, but don't dump your whackadoo all over us. We'd rather not step in it.

Is there a chance we will see reaction figures of the new Supergirl series or Legends of Tomorrow?
