If they're willing to make figures for this film, then there's no reason why we shouldn't get the obscure (although less obscure than these) ones we've been asking for forever.
I wouldn't really consider The Black Hole obscure. It was rather infamous at the time for being Disney's bad attempt to capitalize on Star Wars. More people knew of it than had actually seen it. Making fun of it was the closest thing you had to a meme in the early 80s.
Every time I see it brought up the most common response is "I've never heard of it". So yes, to me that qualifies as obscure.
I can link you to several hours of "Do Kids/Teens Know" React videos that prove that is a poor criterion for defining obscurity.

While I would normally agree with you on that not being enough to qualify, I've had enough experience with this particular film (with people of various ages) to know that in this case it qualifies.

Perhaps there's an age difference on this? As a 41-year-old, I remember well watching this movie repeatedly on TV (probably on the ABC Saturday night movies or Disney family nights on the weekend - Sunday, I think) because VHS was still new when I was a young'un. I loved this movie. My husband, 46, did too. I wouldn't say it's much more obscure than Mr. Toad, the Abonimable Snowman or the Orange bird thing.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. I think it's more a generational thing than a matter of it being obscure. I've never actually seen the movie, but I know vaguely about those robot characters and the basic story.

Re: NYCC Exclusives 2017
The Disney wave looks good, but has nothing for me. Safe two days in a row.
I'll repeat the sentiments of most that Scrooge McDuck is the best of the bunch. I have no interest in buying it, but it's still one of the better exclusives revealed so far. I've never heard of The Black Hole. I was wondering if it was possibly something coming out in the future that I had somehow missed hearing about. I'm 29, so there's been a decent number of movies and TV shows from the 70s and 80s that Funko has made Pops for that I've never been exposed to. It's fun to learn about stuff like this that is before my time.

I MUST have that Scrooge!!!
The two Kingdom Hearts POPs as well.
Three is not bad just hoping I can find those at stores around here.

I was getting by just fine until the Disney wave:
Black Chrome & 8-bit Batman
Eleven
And then pretty much every single Item on the Disney wave!
I have to admit I glanced at Vincent and thought he was familiar, but then when I saw Max, my childhoood memories came back..... and I appreciate that. I'll be buying both and they're way up on my priorities list just because of the memories. Thanks so much, Funko!

Toy Tokyo reveals have been disappointing to me thus far as it's nothing I collect. At this point, I'm bummed I didn't win the SDCC lottery

Those are the exact three that are currently on my Want List, too

And 3 out of 33 isn't too bad, but considering how the quality (and quantity!) of these exclusives seem to be getting better and better with each wave, my wallet is growing nervous.

It's probably an age thing. I know with me, being one year shy of 40, I remember the flick fondly from my childhood through tv showings. I also had the Read-Along book and cassette tape(when you here this sound, turn the page), and at least three or four copies across vhs and dvd.

Great minds think alike!

I was thinking the same thing but hoping GS would get them instead. Just closer to my work and easier to jump in and out.

So far it's just GOT, CHrome Batman and 8bit bats. Scrooge and Halloween Goofy and Donald are cool but i can do without. Everything else is buns.
Figure there's still a Marvel wave, Cartoon and Miscellaneous.
I'm hoping that Statue of Liberty Freddy isn't NYCC but if it is it's shared w/Funko Shop.

Same here. 80's TV and movies are my wheelhouse and I have zero recollection of the Black Hole.

If your age in your profile is correct, it's not your demographic. The Black Hole was the early 80s.

Being born in the early 80's isn't the same as being school age.

I was already an adult but yeah, I remember that merch was EVERYWHERE!!!! Ahhh lunch boxes, remember those? When I was a kid you didn't dare drop your lunchbox or your glass thermos liner would bust into a thousand pieces and if you drank out of it without knowing, you'd be drooling blood the rest of the day

I'm 43 and have no memory of The Black Hole.
The film came out in 1979...I was in grade school from 82-90 and distinctly remember kids coming in with the lunch boxes, book bags and folders because it looked like a Star Wars knockoff. It wasn't a huge success but it was Disney and obviously some remember it and some don't. Plenty of pops of stuff I've never heard of...

If the film came out in 1979 then that is when I would have been Pre-K/Kindergarten. I think it is because I wasn't into Star Wars until around 1982 so I must have not noticed the Black Hole Stuff.
As far as Orange Bird, seems you have to be a visitor to Disney World to understand what that is about.

I was already an adult but yeah, I remember that merch was EVERYWHERE!!!! Ahhh lunch boxes, remember those? When I was a kid you didn't dare drop your lunchbox or your glass thermos liner would bust into a thousand pieces and if you drank out of it without knowing, you'd be drooling blood the rest of the day
Yes sir I definitely remember them...the big metal bad boys that got banned from my school after some kid clocked another one in the back of the head with one and hurt him pretty badly...I can remember specific ones for stuff that I'm not sure should have even had lunch boxes...everything from Welcome Back Kotter to The Fall Guy

And thank you for confirming what I knew as well...the merchandise from the Black Hole was all over. It just wasn't a hugely popular film...and I love google for this:

Great, now that there are two(2) new Pop's that I want. I found out that they are Toy Tokyo Exclusives, so I have a feeling that I won't be getting them. Vincent and Maximilian
