Even though I'm not a vintage collector myself, I love Funko's homages to vintage action figures. I sure Reis had nothing to do with pitching these at all :D Can't wait to add these to the ever increasing SW Funko collection

As much as I love Star Wars and Funko ... I actually disagree. I'm not a big fan of the homage to the vintage figures within Star Wars. I like that Funko does their take on the Star Wars figures. I mean it would be different if the Star Wars line started this way (Like Strawberry Shortcake) but to do a wave now just feels lazy instead of a homage. Now if they did this homage as the first wave of Mystery Minis ... that would be awesome and a new/different way to start a MM line.

This being said I'm sure Reis and the others at Funko will do the homage justice and the figures will look amazing

Definitely not my thing, but I can understand the nostalgia for those who grew up playing with the toys.

I'll be skipping these. Not something I'm interested in. The vintage days are before my time, so I'm unable to feel nostalgia for them. I have a large SW action figure collection, but nothing from before the 90s. I've never even seen a vintage figure in-person. I've tried finding them at antique stores, but the oldest thing I've ever found there are bend-ems, which also happen to be the first SW toys I received as a child, before I even knew what SW was. My first normal action figure was a POTF Bespin Han.

There are a bunch of original trilogy characters I would love to see made. Ponda Baba and Cloud Car Pilot are pretty high on my list. Also
Endor Rebel Soldier
General Veers
Endor Leia and Han
A & B Wing Pilots
Arleil Schous(aka the Wolfman looking guy in the Mos Eisley Cantina)
Tatooine Biggs(would so love this one)
Imperial Officer
Imperial Gunner
Imperial Navy Trooper
etc...

I'd be up for toy colors and even colors based off the old Marvel Comics, Hasbro did some 2 packs of those years ago and they looked pretty vibrant in comic book colors.

and add me to the list of Hammerhead sentimentalists, he was always my favorite

I don't think the old Marvel comics are canon anymore, so Disney may not approve something like that. But I'd be all over Vader in the white armor.

sadly true. I wonder if that pertains to Marvels adaptation of the movies? :-k

maybe Ralph McQuarrie designs?

I was looking for him in Rogue One as well. at first I thought he might be "the Imperial pilot" they were talking about that turned out to be Bodie.

I was at least expecting to see Wedge though, whom we definitely need a POP of...I mean c'mon, the only Rebel Pilot to survive attacks on both Death Stars?! How do we not have him yet?.

Biggs is a great character! I still feel like it was a mistake not to include his scenes with Luke in the special edition. During the assault on the Death Star you have no context for who this guy is that Luke seems to know better than the other pilots. It's just always bugged me. Well that and the Pop that does exist of him is $$$.

I was looking for him in Rogue One too!

Very cool idea! Although I was born in 1993... I wonder if I would've been drawn to Star Wars back in '77-83 as much as I am now, if I lived back then. I like collecting things, and it would be cool to have some of the original toys nowadays!

They did put that one scene in the Special Edition where they meet up just before the Death Star run, but I get what you mean about the earlier stuff.

Oh right! I thought I remembered that (I never watch the special editions). The scene did feel out of place without that earlier interaction.

Anyone else see on Twitter that these will be Walgreens exclusives? My luck has been 50/50 at Walgreens, so I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Just saw it on IG. Pretty cool but I'm not super stoked on these because the Kenner toys were before my time. Always glad to see more Star Wars though so I'll need these for my collection regardless :D

The bestpart of it is that there is finally a sculpt for them to release a movie version of Ponda Baba. Hopefully an Evazan is close behind.

I don't want to get in trouble but there is a pic floating around fb saying walmart not walgreens. So much worse. Walmart is hands down the worst retailer on earth. Especially in my area. Literally bought a AA battery that someone returned to Walmart in a mystery mini box today. 2 of them

Walgreens or Walmart, both bad choices IMO. I'd have rather seen these on the shop as a bundle.

These look fantastic! I'm torn on whether I want them to be a 3 pack or not. On the one hand, I'm only a completist for the numbered sets, so it would be less of a disappointment if I couldn't find one. On the other hand, I like the look of them and I would like to get them, but where will I put them in my nicely ordered collection if they're not numbered? LOLOLOLOLOL

WOWOWOWOWOOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!! So freak'n cool! And they went with proper new sculpting as well...Funko has done it again! Soooo excited :freddy2: :freddy2: :freddy2:

Hammerhead is admittedly my fav...so much sentimentality for this guy....my fav Star Wars figure of all-time and now it's in Pop! form!!!! Greedo's also a must. Admittedly never really got in to Walrus Man...hope they get individual releases!

Same! Don't collect multipacks...even 2-packs are a no go...I just like my single boxed figures. Also I have to admit that I'd like to skip Walrus Man...I want him for the fans, but he doesn't mean anything to me personally. But even worse case scenario...if they do it as a 3 pack I'll keep Hammerhead and Greedo loose and sell Walrus Man. So excited though...this is like my childhood all over again! Happy memories! :freddy2: :freddy2: :freddy2: :freddy2:
