SDCC 2016 Pop! Discussion

Just spent an hour trying to get Cone of Shame Dug and when I finally made it to the checkout screen my cart was empty and he was sold out. Bummer!

He also said they don't even have Marcus Fenix in their system, but to keep checking, because if Funko says they'll have it, they'll have it eventually. But that it may have been delayed.

But I definitely have the one in NY that did get it. My local Gamestop is in Indiana.

I live in western MA and my search showed several GS in NY, 2 in Albany alone with stock. Im close but still, 65 miles????? geez!

I'm sorry to hear that. It's disappointing to hear all these stories of people acting like savages today.

My B&N didn't have any posters. If they did they weren't anywhere near the SDCC table. Maybe behind the registers?

Stories of folks in this thread getting pushed out of the way, bullied and / or hurt while shopping for Funko products is upsetting to read.

No matter what local retail management or corporate offices think about our hobby, there is a level of anxiety for some of us that's compounded by a lack attention to customers / collectors seeking exclusive, limited product. Transparent communication regarding distribution, purchase caps and crowd control may not be a retailer's responsibility, but does greatly improve the customer experience.

The HT in Nashua NH still has pretty much all of the SDCC exclusives including a 6" Grood and five Venellope Rides.

I lucked out at my Barnes & Noble this morning. I got there around 8:45 and hardly any cars in the parking lot. At 8:55 a guy walked up and went right in so I decided to go and check and they must have let the few people in that had been waiting outside before I got there as there was a small line of about 6 people. At 9 they started selling the Pops and I got both the Newt Scamander and Harry Potter 3-Pack with no problem at all! Yay!!

Which HT are you going to?

Normally I would have went to East Town in Knoxville, but the worker that always helped me with pops moved to the one in Sevierville, so I ended up there this morning!

she has helped hold a lot of things for me so I just changed stores lol

but I still go to ET every now and then. You go to the one in Johnson City?

Yeah, I finally gave up about 10 minutes ago. Not worth the hassle.

I grabbed the last Purple Pie man at my store and this guy wanted it for ebay. I walked out with a black eye and pop while he got thrown out.

Just got Golden Freddy. Go to the Funko link on your phone. Make sure you have Walmart app installed. Choose to open in app. If the app force closes, keep trying. I got it on the third try.

I hate to say it, but I once worked at a GameStop for the holidays, and my store had NO CLUE how to control a crowd. There were many times when I looked on in horror at a fight or even simply how we handled things like midnight releases, and I would often give the store manager suggestions on how to make it all less terrible. She shrugged me off, too. Surprise surprise, a few years after I left, they closed down. There are three GS stores near me, and I only ever go to one because they're the only GS of the three that know how to properly keep customers in line. It's a shame, but it seems to be just how GameStops are run.

Also really sad to hear these Black Friday-esque horror stories. All of the places I went to today, I was accompanied by people who were definitely on a mission and were willing to do a lot to get what they wanted, but we were all at least super kind and civil about it all.

He swung at me and hit me. I wanted to git him back, but I didn't. Afraid of being kicked out before I could check out. Got five bucks off for my troubles though.

Yep, went to JC. It was a very good experience. I got there about 9:15 and was the 5th in line. Two of the guys ahead of me were apparently flippers, bought a lot. But the other guy I talked with in line (he drove from Church Hill) helped me when we got to the display. He handed me all the ones I said I was going after. I think all of us there got what we were after. I actually had a pleasant experience at HT this morning.

That's good! I actually was first in line! They opened at 9 and we got there at 8:30, so I sit in the car for about 10 minutes then went up and waited at the door! Their wasn't anyone there and first but me and the other lady, but by the time I went and looked at the regular pops, and checked out..They was sold out of Power Puff Girls, which they didn't have but probably 6 of each! I got one of each. I didn't see any flippers at mine. At GameStop, their was a couple of people in line, around 5 in front of me, but they didn't even buy anything. I think they was after the Strange Pop and Stan Dorbz. Which was bad for them cause they didn't go to HT first, so they ended up empty handed probably and missed out on a few.. Glad I wasn't going after them or I would have been sad.

Sadly, the gamestop website says there are not Doctor Strange or Stan Lee within 100 miles. I called two Gamestops and both said their shipments have already come in for today and they did not receive either figure. But I will be checking anyways at my local gamestop soon, and will be their in the morning if I am not successful today.

I ended up having time to stop at GameStop real quick, picked up the X men dorbz set. Also the civil war 4 pack and a soldier 76 pop. The guy there said Dr Strange would be in tomorrow so I might try to get him but I've already spent more than I was supposed to haha.
