I just don't agree that this is a very good way to have a contest like this. So many of us simply cannot stalk the forums for hours on end. I just so happened to get cut from work early so I was able to make it here, and even though I was trying to post the technology kept blocking me from even getting a chance at winning. It's like 2 separate contests all together. It's not really fun when you can't even get an entry.
I dunno, I suppose it's just my opinion (and I know that) but with our growing community I think that there should be a few more rules imposed to these contests to at least ensure that some of our more proven members on the boards can at least get the chance to win.
Gotta agree with most of what you're saying Jeff. If the doubling of sales in the two years since Pops have been out or the quick sell-outs at SDCC weren't an indicator, these contests prove that the nature of Funko collecting has shifted to something completely different since Pops came around. I remember last year when there were a few giveaways that went on for 10-15 minutes to get 15 names. And I guarentee if Brian was giving away 10 Wobblers tonight there wouldn't have been server problems. The nature of collecting Funko is definitely becoming more dominate by Pop collectors (pretty much myself included) and as such I don't see how contests like this can continue the way they've always been. I'm very appreciative of all that Funko does, but if everything else has had to be readjusted to account for the success of Pops, maybe how these are done should be to.
Or I'm just a jerk who is complaining because of sour grapes.
