Well I'm excited that I am getting two Pop!s that I wanted. I would prefer to just get them separately and without unneeded keychains, BUT I'm also kind of stoked that this is really pushing me further into the direction of being an out-of-box collector almost completely.

JohnnyPOP wrote:Can we just clear up that this exists partially due to licensing issues? Because that's what I took away from the Periscope. It's not a ploy to make more money, it's literally the only way they could make the Spider-Man pop. I'd have to go back and rewatch it to get the direct quote of what Yoko said about it, but from my understanding, it was this or no pop at all.
Is there someone who can clarify or confirm?
Either way, I love both of the new pops. These action poses are looking great and I'm glad Funko has been stepping into more dynamic pops lately.
While I can somewhat understand the licensing issues, I absolutely don't think it said they have to put stupid keychains("pocket pops") in with it. Why not make it a 3 pack with Vision? Baron Zemo? General Ross? Dude walking by in the background eating a sandwich? Look, I understand what your saying. I'm just frustrated by the fact there is a couple things that are attached to this when they KNOW how many people wanted a Spidey w/ Cap's shield. It feels out of place and forced. That's where it feels like its all about money. When you add that up with the other things shoe-horned in with things they know people clammer for(armored Batman, gamestop mystery boxes, Hulkbuster, etc) it feels like they force you to get things you don't have interest in in the off-chance they can flip you onto that line as well. I know they aren't the first or the last to do this; it's just starting to get a little absurd. It honestly should have just been a regular three pack in my opinion. No disrespect meant to you or anyone who loves it; just my two cents.

So it's just called the civil war four pack so if I was to go to gamestop to preorder it that's what it would say and anyone else think this will be a pain to find or is it just me

Maybe don't do experiments on one of your best selling lines....
For someone who only collects regular sized POP! I don't want to buy all the included stuff. Does that mean I am a hater?
I don't mind having pops out of box, I have quite a lot I have sitting around, but I do mostly display my collection in-box. Multipacks can mess up that dynamic. 2-packs not so much...but this thing...
I want the pops. I'm gon a buy it. How I'm gonna display it, I have no idea.

No, I get it. I'm confused by the keychains too. I don't really know what I'm going to do with them since my keys go through hell everyday and these would break since they're "bobbles." And I totally get where you're coming from too. I just think sometimes people forget that there's only so much Funko can do in these cases. A lot of this is really Sony and Marvel's faults. I would have loved this to have just been a two pack or a 3 pack with another character. And I can't (and I'm not trying to) speak for Funko. Hopefully something changes and they get permission to release him separately or something so people who just want Spider-Man can have him.
As for the sub boxes, I don't know. I never knew they were a thing before I heard about the Funko powered ones. But there are a lot out there. I think with those you're more paying for the exclusivity and also like the t-shirt and other products in it. That technically is about money, so I understand your point.
Collecting is definitely super frustrating sometimes, so I feel you there.

It's not an inflated price though. It's actually what you would pay for 2 pops+2 keychains. If you don't like part of it or think it's "garbage" don't buy it. No one is forcing you to spend your money. Pops are a luxury. Your life does not actually depend on owning a Spider-Man holding a shield toy. I can understand disliking the box for display purposes but maybe try and view it as an opportunity to have some fun, mix it up! You might find a way to make it look really awesome and have some sweet new pieces in your collection! It's cool to disagree-turns out opinions are a thing that people generally have which is part of what makes people people! Sometimes the animosity & entitlement over new/different things Funko tries is too ridiculous... Have fun complaining I guess? If that's your thing...

If I see it in person and this is the only way to get the Spidey I might buy it. Don't care for Hawkeye as I already have him and the keychains are whatever to me.

Pretty great "2 pack"! At least it's regular release and I definitely understand the challenge of Ant Man on Hawkeye's arrow so it's all good that he's not on the mold.

And what do us "haters" who just want the pop figures without the experiment do? Forgive people for not agreeing with you and the others who accept it, for us to just want the actual pops without the inflated price and garbage accompanied with it is pretty ridiculous, I know. Sorry, but some in-box collectors won't like this and we're allowed to have a voice too, like it or not, but to just say that we're "haters" because we don't agree with some pack that's being forced on us with things that don't make sense and are an obvious product push is a little ridiculous.
It sounds like you are so angry that you've missed the central point that's been made several times in this thread- Funko has already stated this is the only way they could issue this Pop because of licensing issues. So this is a simple case of it either coming in a multi-pack or not being made at all. We get it, you're angry about it. But good grief, no one is "forcing" you to buy "garbage". That is pure hate talk right there. If you want to express your opinion that's one thing, but this is the official Funko owned forum and isn't the place to hate on Funko or their products. That's what Facebook is for

Re: Civil War 4-Pack Gamestop Exclusive?
I'm grateful that we're getting a new Spider-Man and a new Hawkeye; two of the most requested pops i've seen for CW.
I'm grateful that they're in cool poses, and that Captain America's shield is removable from Spider-Man.
I'm grateful that they're priced reasonably; it breaks down to exactly what each individual piece would cost separately.
I'm grateful that they aren't exclusive to any convention or retailer, so I won't have to worry about their scarcity or inflated prices on the secondary market.
I'm indifferent about the keychains, although i think they'll display nicely with Giant Man, as they are closer to scale than normal pops.
I'm indifferent about the box dimensions; I display OOB.
I can see why some things about this set may disappoint some, but we aren't owed a single thing by Funko, and frankly, I think they could have done much worse . Everyone's entitled to an opinion, and it's okay to voice it, but when that opinion becomes a one page diatribe, you can come off sounding whiny and entitled.

You make some good points and your absolutely correct that Funko can only do so much; sometimes that gets lost on me. I'm just disappointed with it because of all the possibilities that would have worked better. I'm also like you where there's no practicality to having these keychains and that makes it more frustrating. I guess overall I should be happy that at least it's not a set of four previously released commons. I'm like you whereas I hope Sony and Marvel get together on this soon so they can release this figure without having to worry about a situation like this again.

I think I can help with this. It's not exclusive, but is in the GameStop system for preorder. I got the list a few days ago, and it's listed as follows:
POP Marvel: Cap America 3 - 4 Pack. SKU: 122548
I've never had a problem asking them to look an item up by SKU.

I get what your saying, but to someone who doesn't nor wants to collect keychains, it actually is forcing you to buy them at an inflated price compared to just the two pops to get what I'd like since yes, I do CHOOSE to collect. I understand it's a mutli-pack, that's fine, I prefer multi packs, actually. Just don't force an unwanted product(keychain) on someone with it. And where did I say I was entitled? I'm owed nothing. I find the animosity from some members on this board towards people who go against the grain to be INSANELY ridiculous sometimes, this just being an example. It's taken personal when some people gripe to let it be known how ridiculous or generally unliked something Funko does may be to let it be known for the future. Looking back, at first I did come across as really agressive, and I do apologize for that, but nowhere did I say I hated multi-packs, am entitled to things my way nor attacked anyone personally for their opinion. And I actually don't like arguing, but I'm absolutely not going to be walked over or be talked to condescendingly for having a voice.

You're right; I missed that point and I apologize; still doesn't change the fact that putting keychains with it is garbage to some because like you said: "this is the only way they could issue this Pop" and it's forcing a fair amount of people to get something that they don't want. Why not do three regular pops? Did it say it had to be keychains? That's all I'm saying. A multi-pack is great, just keep it all regular pops. Other people could be done. And yeah, it's Funko owned, that doesn't mean I can't "hate" on them here whether you like it or not. Its an open forum and they have every right to be called out if people don't like something they make. I'm not trying to "hate;" I just don't like being forced to spend more money on things I don't want and like it or not I'm not the only one. Considering this is an "official Funko owned forum," it's the best place to say you don't like something in hopes to let them know how you feel about it for the future.

It's not so much your opinion, as they way it was expressed; Stating simply what you don't like about it and why would have been fine, but i feel like you went on a pretty intense little rant there. Throwing around the words "crap" and "garbage" a lot, and saying that it's a slap in the face, being forced on you, or shoved down your throat... just seems like you feel you're owed something. You don't have to buy anything you don't want to, and Funko's decisions aren't made with only you in mind.
I hope you didn't take what I said as a personal attack, as it wasn't my intent; and I certainly don't think you're a jerk. In fact, I totally respect you for that response.

As an in box collector, and as someone that just stacks all my pop's against a wall, it'll be a nice game of real life tetris trying to stack all these multi packs in with the single pop's. I do like both these pop's and if I have to pay $10 extra for the key chains it's not so bad.

Doesn't anyone consider that maybe, just maybe, Funko wanted this set to be unique, awesome, and most importantly FUN? Pop!s aren't such a serious thing that folks should be so bothered by something whose positives far outweigh its negatives. Let's have a look at that, shall we?
Positives:
Spidey with shield Pop!
Hawkeye Pop!
Dynamic poses
Spidey & Hawkeye are main focus
Bonus Ironman & Cap
Not exclusive
Fun packaging
Original idea
Negatives:
The alternative is no Spidey or Hawkeye Pop!s
Price point for penny pinchers
Oh no key chains!
Oh no huge box!
Yeah. Those negatives sure don't sound fun. Neither does the complaining. This kind of announcement is supposed to be FUN, people. Losing sight of that is kind of sad.

I know that with Fox, they get a certain (pretty large, if I remember right) percentage from sales of X-Men and F4 merch, which is why there isn't a lot of it. (Why focus on a license that won't bring in as much money as another?) So it might be a similar situation with Sony. Licensing rights are really complicated and murky sometimes.
This sort of makes sense when you think about it this way. I don't know exactly how the licensing works but they've essentially made a pack that is 25% spiderman for the price of a pack that would normally be 33% spiderman. Keep Sony down but also the price.

Liking Hawkeye and Spidey, but I'm not going to put any key chains to use since they'd break daily with the way my keys get thrown around. Weird situation regarding licensing - Marvel owns the merchandising rights as far as I'm aware. Sony may now have a say in what Spider Man merch gets made which would make sense. Just bummed that we won't get an unmasked version.

Re: Civil War 4-Pack Gamestop Exclusive?
not gonna lie I feel like it should have been Spidey, Hawkeye (with Ant Man on arrow), Vision (in suit or sweater vest), and maybe a variant of Black Widow, or a Falcon w/ Red Wing

Thank you so much for the help

Sorry about that, I really am. I don't mean to come across that way. Ill try to keep it shorter. Honestly, does it sound entitled to want a multi-pack with just regular pops and no keychains like normal? I'm seriously asking, not being a jerk. I just want to understand that part better. I just don't want to pay for a product tied to another one that raises it's price.
Not taken personal at all, and I was pretty aggresive and overly-frustrated with my first post and I apologize for that. I honestly tend to grade Funko on a harder scale which isn't exactly fair sometimes. Overall, it's great for Spidey and Hawkeye, glad to have them. The others I'll live with, and hopefully will have options down the road should this arise again. Thanks for the civil(war) talk.

Sorry man, that's partially my fault. Sounds like it will be a regular release. I went and looked at my pre-order at GS, and I just noticed it didn't say exclusive anywhere on it.

Re: Civil War 4-Pack Gamestop Exclusive?
The POP!s look amazing! Hopefully they make Hawkeye with Ant-Man on his arrow an SDCC exclusive.
Not a huge fan of the pocket pops, but I will deal since Hawkeye and Spidey look so awesome. In my opinion it should only be $25 considering they are kind of shoving the pocket pops down our throats on this, but not going to crazy over $5. I’ll probably give the key chains to my little brother to put on his schoolbag.
Love how they included the shield because I have an Captain America shield collection going with Capt., US Agent, Black Widow and soon to be Spidey haha.

It's easy to forget sometimes, I understand. Sometimes we just have to roll with these kind of things and maybe they'll see this wasn't taken exactly as planned and in the future we won't see them anymore. Yes, there's always a bright side! It's not more commons like people feared. It's a unique pack. And if you're an OOB collector, maybe you could gift those keychains to people you know? Just a fun thought. I might give one to my brother and keep the other one on backpack or something.
Licensing is always going to be a big mess because that is so predominantly founded in "how much money can I get here" and it's a lot of back and forth with Sony and Marvel. Funko is just kind of caught in the middle of it.

Malion wrote:This sort of makes sense when you think about it this way. I don't know exactly how the licensing works but they've essentially made a pack that is 25% spiderman for the price of a pack that would normally be 33% spiderman. Keep Sony down but also the price.
From what I've read, Marvel (or Sony or Fox) get a percentage of sales made on merchandise while Marvel is the one paying for the production costs. I could really be wrong there, but it's how I've come to understand it.
So this was the answer. But damn, does that Spider-Man pop look good. People would have easily paid $25 or more for him alone if he'd come in a sub box. I honestly can't wait until I can grab this pack.

I'm actually considering commissioning custom boxes for the spidey and hawkeye so they fit with my display. I found a guy to do make one for my damged unmasked flash so it fits with my display. I'm not sure how hard it would be for him to use exsisting art to make them.

Spider and Hawkeye are cool, but I admit I have no interest in the 4 pack. I do look forward to seeing people post pics of them though when they start to get them!

I'm one of those who mostly keep stuff in-box just since I really love how clean it looks, so I probably won't break it up. I think I'm partially down on it because I was really hoping for a new Vision. Hopefully we'll see one down the line. And an easy fix for licensing issues: Away with them! Everyone can make whatever and the best will win! That could work just peachy, right?!?
