I don't think that Loki was ever 'limited' in any sense of the word. He just got short packed, and was out in the market for about 8 months before anyone cared about him.

I'm glad to see the re-release. It means more people have a shot at him at a decent price.

Ditto re-releases are OK with me. Only cus I didn't spend an arm and a leg for them. Plus it helps out the last starters catch up and their missing pieces. Oh and on a side note it also teaches people not to spend so much on them that way it keeps cost down and keeps being fun.

Not being able to get one initially, I'm thrilled to have the chance to pick up a Loki or a decently painted Penguin. That being said, the hunt for the Riddler and Thor was pretty exciting. I think there should be a slight paint difference - a variant or 2nd press in future if want outstrips demand. Similar to how records are repressed to satiate the masses, but the collectibility of the "1st press" remains the same.

I can also see Funko being potentially annoyed with fans paying $100+ for items that they saw maybe $6.00 before deductions for manufacturing, when they could be making that money.

I'm sure that played a major role in why they decided to re-release it..

Funko making money has nothing to do with after market pricing. Funko makes what they make based on what they know it will make on said piece. If they sell out of piece they didn't expect to that quick, good for them! They just made their money way faster then expected.

I don't mind re-releases either. It would be a shame for people to miss out on the key players from Batman, because they came in late for the first series. I mean to COMPLETELY miss out on The Penguin and Riddler would suck!!

Won't be hitting stores and stuff, online only. Gemini or Entertainment Earth.

I wasn't that interested in Loki until I picked up a Thor at BN a few weeks ago. Thor is seriously cool (as I'm sure Bear will agree!)

Thanks to this release, I've got my Loki! Woo Hoo!

Completely agree - but the more they sell themselves, the more money earned and the more money put back into product. The more they sell of a specific type of pop, I'd imagine the cheaper they are to make, less molds, order in greater quantities etc... Funko is great at catering to the niche collector as well as the mass market. If there is a desire for more of a certain pop and it wasn't designed to be limited (which in the re-releases is all of them) why not make more to get them in the hands of more fans and curb after-market gauging (which has the double-edged sword of making their product highly desirable and out of the reach of most collectors.) That being said, Loki has been a hot commodity for a couple of months now, so they run the risk of aggrevating those who just shelled out big bucks - hence the need for some way to tell them apart, such as a difference in paint.

I have mixed feelings about the re-releases. Anyone who collects anything likes something rare. Then again as some have mentioned it is good for people just getting started to be able to get the older pieces. I guess the regular release pops now will become fun to look at just don't ever try to sell one. I wonder if this is the end of skyrocketing pop prices??? I know I will be real weary about ever spending more than 9.99 on a regular release no matter how hard they are to find.

Exactly my point Ken, Pop went from toys to collectibles back to toys. I just picture a factory where its like, we are out of sulleys, people want sulleys... MAKE MORE SULLEYS!!! lol Anyways, I learned my lesson when they did it with Jack Skellington, now Loki, Thor and the rest of what we all thought were tough to find. Now its no longer a rush to buy them hoping not to miss the tough one, and no more paying above retail. I get it that the chase were supposed to be the limited, but it was fun trying to pick up all of them knowing some might be tougher then others. I guess its beating a dead horse, so I said what I had to say

hey funko, please re-release all the super rare freddy wobblers and other rare items released in the past. It's only fair that all collectors have these. Funko has never re-released anything. Why are they starting now? The have nots love the re-release, the haves don't as they went to great efforts to track the rare pieces down.

From a business standpoint, it makese perfect sense for Funko to re-release figures that are in demand. Obviously let the Chases be rare, but why limit a regular release if it will make money and thus help fund future releases of new figures.

Exactly my point. Just because you can cash in doesn't mean you start up the presses and just produce more.

I saw Loki available for pre-order with a September 2012 date on Entertainment Earth 2 weeks ago, so I just took a gamble and placed an order hoping for the best. In my mind, I conceded to the fact that my Marvel/DC collection would always be without Loki because I refused to pay more than $10-15. For once, patience pays off for me. I must say though, that the hunt for Loki at every store I could think of with POP! was kind of exciting. I figured I would always walk away empty handed, but the thrill was certainly there. Thanks Funko!

Meth68 wrote: Pop went from toys to collectibles back to toys.

They never stopped being toys. Buyers turned them into 'collectibles'. Funko has been very consumer friendly, and treated its collectors very well, but they're a toy company first and foremost. From their perspective, a re-release makes sense. Loki was very hard to find, now he'll be a little less hard to find and that will make more people happy, and those happy people will hopefully buy more product later.

If you're disappointed that your mass-market, low price-point toy isn't going to appreciate in value and be worth 10 times what it is now, grow up. These pieces were never meant to sell for hundreds of dollars, and with the popularity of Pop and the quantity Funko is going to produce to meet demand, most of them might never sell for more than retail. That's the breaks. As long as you're good with spending 10 bucks for a new Pop, you should never want for happiness.

And, it doesn't sound like it's going to be a huge re-release, so I'm sure Loki will still be a premium figure, but this should put an end to some of the 'and prices are only going to go up!' chatter.

The Freddys are Limited Editions give out mostly at Fundays or other events .. hardly the same as regular issue wobblers and POP!s. Loki is a regular issue.

Funko has re-released plenty of items over the years .. it just isn't common knowledge for collectors.

There has never been any official email or notice to state that any POP! item had been retired that I have ever seen.

i agree, the freddys are not the same as they are not reg releases. I retract that statement.

But i do not know of any item that was pulled out of retirement and re-released. I doubt we ever see an official email about items being retired. But it seems to me if an item is not listed on the funko website, and distributors can no longer get an item, and that an item is not listed in the 2012 catalog as available, all these facts tend to lead to the conclusion that an item is retired. I'm done ranting and I even pre ordered a loki

Distributors can get items .. they just don't keep ordering them when they don't sell. They can be sitting in the Funko warehouse .. a re-release doesn't necessarily mean they restart the production line for an item. I have seen Wild Bill's warehouse and it's like the bottomless pit of Funko. So I can only imagine what Funko's warehouse could have in it that they don't even know they still could have unless they look for it.

Since you "doubt we ever see an official email about items being retired." How do you know it was really officially retired .. ?? Retired just means they aren't in production anymore, it doesn't mean it's unavailable.

Collectors don't get the same notices or emails that Retailers since they don't sell Funko .. so you wouldn't see these. Collectors get info from word of mouth usually.

Catalogs are there to preview new items as well as show current items that are available still .. sometimes the items don't even get made but are in the catalog.

Halloween/Holiday stuff get's re-released almost every time the following year after they are released, they are also not always in the newest catalog. Then again Cereal Monster POP!s are no longer being made but they are in this years catalog.

With info coming from Facebook .. Twitter and like social media lately it's like the old game "Telephone" .. someone says they think this .. they think that .. I heard this .. I heard that .. It's mostly conjecture ..

I don't believe any of it until I get some type of confirmation from Brian, or someone that actually works for Funko. Like emails .. articles .. interviews from Toy Fair or the Con ..

Like I said before .. Welcome to the Funko Age of Speculation !!

I'm no lawyer but a "seems to me" statement before something doesn't make it a fact Bro .. ;-)

Pardon me .. I'm not looking to pick on anyone in particular ..

.. but I just saw My Cousin Vinny last night .. :D

Vinny Gambini: So, Mr. Crane, you can positively identify the defendants, for a moment of 2 seconds, looking through this dirty window, this crud covered screen, all of these trees, with all of these leaves on them, and I don't know how many bushes.
Ernie Crane: Looks like five.
Vinny Gambini: Uh, uh, uh, don't forget, this one and this one.
Ernie Crane: Seven bushes!
Vinny Gambini: Seven bushes. So, what do you think? Isn't possible you just saw two guys in a green convertable and not necessarily these two particular guys?
Ernie Crane: I suppose.
Vinny Gambini: I'm finished with this guy.

I have seen what is in the funko warehouse. And for the currently in production pieces, funko has a pretty good idea what is in their warehouse as well. As for things that are not in production/never made it to production/ prototypes/ various other cool odds and ends, sometimes those things get overlooked or stashed in a closet somewhere only to be found by an innocent employee trying to find more red tape with which to ship hot topic orders with.
