Thanks, I never knew they held something like that... They are pretty much the same character right? I don't see any difference... Considering which one to buy

Rich is right. Even though at sdcc they sold the small metallic Mickey with the d23 sticker on it. Again sticker mix up. At d23 they only metallic Mickey was the 9" version.

Never quite understood what the Disney toonists were on when they came up with a stove pipe stuck up Micky's shorts.

Ready for some trivia...
Steamboat Willy is actually the THIRD Mickey cartoon produced, but the first one released.
Plane Crazy and Gallopin' Gaucho were made prior to Steamboat Willy, and shown to distributors with little success. They were also silent when first shown.

Re: What is the difference between SDCC and D23 Metallic Mic
Walt Disney's first successful cartoon was Oswald the Rabbit but the company he worked for had majority rights to it. Disney Company did not get the rights back until they traded Al Michaels and cash in 2006. Mickey Mouse was actually named by his wife Flora. Steam boat willie was the 3rd cartoon made but first shown in distribution. Many of the cartoons that Disney made were done years prior as in Peter Pan and Cinderella but WWII forced a later release. Any time you want to know if Walt Disney had collaboration on a movie or show the top will say Walt Disney Productions where movies and such made today only say Dosney.
