Hmm...the cost includes a hard, UV-resistant case...that might help make the cost more palatable.

Anyone here ever get one graded through PSA?

I like being able to use the 7BAP armors and like my collection to look the same. So I don’t want to start grading because then I will have to get a lot of pops graded.

I also want to be able to inspect a pop for damage myself outside of a protector.

But I like that there is a verification service to check heavily faked pops

I'm not a fan of assigning a grade to them but I do like the idea of a third party semi-trusted verification service that the pop is legitimate!

Does anyone know if PSA does on-site grading for Funko Pop figures? They only mention on-site grading for cards from what I can tell

I may be wrong, or it has changed, but my understanding is that they grade the box itself, and I've seen speculation that the figures are not confirmed to be legit or fakes. Of course, this info may be outdated though.

I thought it was explained in PSA website when you grade them. I could be wrong

The descriptions of the services are not as nuanced as they should be but apparently they’re saying they are authentication of the piece and they are grading THE BOX AND NOT THE CONDITION OF THE FIGURE ITSELF. So years ago when I said that this is all rather silly and were basically collecting boxes I might have been onto something lol

Ah. Yeah, not grading the figure itself seems rather, strange. But hey, another reason to make sure those boxes are minty!

For a long time I looked for a simple authentication service - no grade. I even asked PSA if they would do it given they do it anyway as part of the overall service but they told me no.

To be honest I’ve seen a few fandoms change with the arrival of PSA in the space and I have also seen some really crazy asking prices for graded pops…not a fan but I guess it’s worth it to some people

In my opinion grading the pops is silly because pops boxes arent like cards are comics to where you can lay on something and keep it pristine.. its flimsy and can get damaged in the process and alot places that grade put it in a container that is loose the pop could shake around and ruin the corners.. id rather put my high value pops in the pop armor

So hard to grade. I get cards since they have a standard especially when it comes to centering but what you and others would call mint to a pop box a grader might call it an 8. I feel like them authenticating and then encapsulating might be a smarter move

Once I saw sealed VHS tapes and video games getting graded, I was wondering when funkos would go that route. I think it's a cool concept, but I'd only do it funkos that are super rare and limited. Even then it would sound very costly to convert not just one but a lot of your collection to a graded system. I feel for me hard cases will probably just be the extent to protecting my collection. And with my OCD if i grade one, I'd have to grade all of them lol

For those who have went the grading route, have people given insight in which firm to do the grading?

I like seeing graded pops but I don't think I'd want one. For me they're just a bit to bulky.

Wouldn’t mind having a couple PSA graded in my collection. How long is the typical turn around time for those who have done it, and how fair do you think your grade was?

Getting anything graded has been on my bucket list of to-do items. I’ll definitely be going through this thread for any additional insight since I’m obviously a Funko Funatic and there are certain figures of mine that will remain in-box for personal reasons.

i have been using vvgs before PSA started doing it. i like the whole experience for vvgs, not sure if it adds value to it, but it is not to have a third party take a look at the pop and let people know the condition of the pop box.

I'm not a fan of the actual grade weirdly. I do like that they authenticate though - I wished they had a slab/authentication service without the grade

I’ve been saying the same thing about comics. I like the idea for authentication and preservation purposes for things I’m keeping in my personal collection.

Agree - I'm sort of neurotic about cases/protection and, despite the recent issues with CGC, I love the casing and would pay for it.

I haven’t made my mind up on graded pops. I get the concept when it comes to cards and comics and I guess that carries over pretty smoothly to Funko in terms of condition and wear/tear.

I haven’t went out of my way to search for graded Funko products on the secondary markets but I’ve definitely come across some on eBay and Instagram and do like the hard stack case.
Hey! I’m eee. I’ve been collecting Funko since 2020. Joined the board in July 2024. I mainly collect Freddy [+some Franny lately] but am always finding new and old things to want!

Yeah I don't think I would do this at all. Grading for pops. Seems like a weird thing to do. I think trading cards makes sense. But not too sure on funko pops. But then again. They do grading on other toys such as hasbro toys and star wars as well.

Graded pops are ok to look at but would I want to pay an overinflated price because of it? Nope.

Lo bueno es que si pagas mucho por un funko puedes saber si tienes una pieza original lo malo es que el sistema encarece los productos. :-({|=
