MLP Vinyl Discussion (Funko please bring back the Vinyls!)

Sad for no ponies again today! Only two announcements left! Hopefully they are in the next one then! Maybe the black variants last year didn't sell well so they aren't doing any this year :,( I hope we get two vinyls and a hikari! Last yer the hints for ponies were at the end of the list so maybe they will be annouced last?

I don't like this Pinkie either, in fact I am severely disappointed with her. However, that outfit is well made for a Hasbro outfit, so I can't fully hate her. I have very conflicting emotions towards her.

I was thinking that. Those two ponies even stayed up on Amazon for a looooong time before eventually selling out.

That's actually exactly how I feel. I think the outfit is above and beyond what we normally get with the fashion style ponies sold in stores (especially now that it seems like they're moving towards non-cloth outfits), BUT I feel like the price is just too much...

And it's weird that no one has officially said anything about it, right? Apparently both the My Little Pony Facebook AND Instagram pages posted about it before quickly pulling the posts.

Well, on Friday I'll be picking up my ticket for the Fair and with that comes with the pony, so we'll all know for sure by then what it is. I'll be posting pictures immediately. lol

It really is weird we haven't heard anything regarding the post, maybe it's all part of their plan we will see! Really hoping we get some ponies from Funko too!! Starting to lose hope

It is all about sales and the last two Funko Ponies for SDCC did not sell well at all. I believe that you can even get both of the first ones for under $20 and that is not a good sign at all. So, judging by the sales of those I would assume that they would not have any this year simply because it is a loss of money if they do not sell well.

If they come out with characters that are not a millionth Rainbowdash or another Muffin, then maybe they will do better. They should also probably stay away from the black variants like last year. Villains are always good choices, so they should go with that. Ooo! Personally I would love a villain from the original series(the one from the 80's for those of you who do not know) as I don't care for any of the recent villains.

If they wanted to blow everyone outta the water they should do Queen Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon! Personally I want them as regular release though since I want glitters! The first two the glitter Rainbow and Derpy go for $30-40 at the moment. I would love 80s villains as well but it would have to be a small run since not a lot would know who they are. I hope they don't go the black route again but I really hope we at least get something!!

While it would be neat if they did a release of new characters as the exclusives, I don't think it would be the CMC.

At the same time, releasing new characters as SDCC exclusives would make it harder for people not attending to complete their collections, and it'd be even worse if it were characters that lots of people were looking forward to.

I'm still thinking one of the Rainbow Dash Hikari variants will be the exclusive or there won't be an exclusive at all.

I don't think Funko will release new characters- that is not usually how they do things (usually a restyle or recolor)

BUT I do think it wouldn't be TOO hard to recolor Luna to be Nightmare Moon! Now THAT would be awesome! (Although I'll admit may be a little complicated... sigh)

At this rate I've pretty much lost hope. We did get ponies late last year but it wasn't THIS late.

Unless they're holding back something REALLY amazing and are making us wait.

I feel the same the last bit of hope I have is that either its last on the list like last year it was on the bottom, or maybe they will show lots of exclusives on the final day?

Hasbrokens is the Pinkie Pie, such a fail totally not buying easily the worst exclusive yet.

I know a lot of people are angry about it, but having the chicken Pinkie Pie in hand has helped me fall in love with her. The packaging is adorable! Plus, I kinda would've wanted the exclusive regardless since I'm actually AT the Fair for the first time and it just seems right. lol

I'm gonna get Andrea Libman to sign the box!

So, no pony news from Funko? Yeah... I don't think we're getting an exclusive from them. I am seeing a lot of repetitiveness with their exclusives, though.

The packaging is pretty hilarious, but I feel that it does not make up for the whole exclusive itself. I miss the days when we got art ponies as exclusives...and they were not $50.

I agree. Oh, but I do love the poster and pin we got! The poster even has my favorite G1 on it (Night Glider). The packaging for Pinkie is obviously where all the money went, haha. After finding out that Derpy was about $20 three years ago, I'm failing to understand the price hike in exclusives now.

So now I'm debating having Andrea sign chicken Pinkie or Funko Pinkie. I don't wanna lug those figures around all day, but my fiancé will be with me and he won't be buying anything, so he'll have free hands. lol

Price hike in exclusives...that is a bit hard for me to answer, but I think it is because they have started getting more "fancy". For example, the DJ pony was vinyl-ish with disco lights, a plastic case to protect it and all that. Chicken Pie had an elaborate outfit and I guess that bucket is kind of fancy...I dunno, it is hard to explain.

Awesome! On Saturday I was in the Rockin' Beats group as Melody.

That makes sense, your reasoning for the jump in price. Oh, but I did speak with the two Hasbro representatives there and I told them that, while I and many others enjoy the exclusive from this year, we'd like something a bit more... worth the money next year. I added that we get Pinkie Pie with everything, so it'd be nice to see a different pony get the spotlight.

Well Chicken Pie sold out this year, which is huge since they have not sold out since Muffin pony. So, going by that I think they may not listen to your advice, which is side because apart from the clever packaging I did not like this year's.

No exclusives from Funko for me, either. I didn't even see any other characters I care about from their other lines.

Oh and yeah, Chicken Pinkie sold out pretty quickly. A lot of kids were really excited about her, which I'd say is a good thing. The collectors demographic may not have been entirely happy, but the kids were and I thought that was nice.

There aren't even any SDCC mystery mini sets so I guess I won't have to attempt the Funko line this year. Last year I passed on the 2 ponies but got a case of the Disney minis.

I guess I'll be getting that Chicken Pinkie after all then.

Everyone complained last year about the exclusives...looks like Funko listened. I imagine ponies lost their vinyl exclusive to Dorbz or another vinyl that appeals to the masses.

I don't blame them for not doing exclusives for MLP this year, since last year's were terrible and didn't sell well. Although I'm a little surprised that one of the Rainbow Dash Hikari variants wasn't an SDCC exclusive.

I am not surprised the SDCC ponies didn't sell well last year, they were just black versions of some of the most boring ponies (no offense). I am positive that if they had done a more exciting recolor or a new pony character, it would have been more popular.

last years ponies didn't sell so they just didn't make new ones this year? no..they should've tried 10x harder to make something we wanted rather than not making any at all.

I was looking again at their exclusives for other licenses- and noticed 1) they did a LOT of reposes and characters with accessories this year; and 2) The focus was on POPs.

I REALLY wish they had done a repose/MLP character with accessories- but they did so many other licenses that I guess MLP POP didn't make the cut. Maybe the MLP POPS don't sell as well as other lines. I guess that's a possibility... I know I personally prefer the MLP vinyls to POPs.

Ah well. Back to waiting for the next Hikari Dash. I was sure one would pop up as a Con exclusive... I hope I don't miss out !!!
